Nigeria's Super Falconets celebrating after scoring
Zimbabwe has been confirmed as Nigeria’s second round opponents of the FIFA U-20 Women World Cup qualifiers.
Both teams will clash on March 31 in the first of the two- legged encounter in Nigeria with the reverse fixture scheduled for a fortnight in Harare.
Zimbabwe qualified for the second round with a 7-0 goals aggregate over new comers, Mozambique.
They had won the first leg 4--0 which was played in Harare on February 19 and completed the rout in the return leg on Sunday in Maputo with a 3-0 victory. Forward Rutendo Makore grabbed a hat-trick.
Nigeria meanwhile, qualified without kicking a ball following the withdrawal of Sierra Leone in the first round.
Be it at the age-grade or senior category, Nigeria has never lost to any Zimbabwe team since the women’s game was introduced to Africa.
Already the 29 players invited by Falconets Chief Coach, Edwin Okon have since reported to the team’s Abuja camp on Sunday in readiness for the crunch encounter that will determine who advances into the third and final round of the series.
