Fidelity Bank Gets Approval to Issue MasterCard

Fidelity Bank Plc has been licensed by MasterCard Worldwide to issue the latter’s electronic payment card to its customers.
Speaking at event in Lagos, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Fidelity Bank, Mr. Reginald Ihejiahi, expressed delight over the opportunity.


The bank’s boss added: “We decided to bring in MasterCard to offer our customers choice. Also those who are not yet customers of the bank, can now come to Fidelity Bank and receive all the products and benefits of MasterCard, the same way we have always enjoyed the benefits of Visa Card, which we have always had.”


Speaking further Ihejiahi stressed that MasterCard gave a lot of benefit and opportunities to bank customers, adding that the cards would be deplored to customers in few weeks’ time.


On his part, the Division President, MasterCard Worldwide, sub-Saharan Africa, Mr. Daniel Monehin, said the principal license that was offered the bank was the highest form of license, saying that it signified a solid partnership between MasterCard and its customers.

Explaining the details of the partnership, Monehin said: “Master card is an enabler. It is not a single-product solution but a multiple product solution. From all forms of current accounts, savings accounts, commercial accounts, corporate account, public sector accounts among others. MasterCard solutions will be a factor to drive accounts to become fully electronic. It is going to enhance the cashless initiative of the banking sector.”


Also, Country Manager, Master Card Worldwide, West Africa, Mrs. Omokehinde Ojomuyide, added: “We have a team of very devoted people supporting the card business and the kind of support we have put together for Fidelity Bank is very interesting. As long as the bank continues striving to grow its business, we will always be around to assist.”
