The Federal Government has assured that three major roads in the South-east would be repaired before Christmas.
Minister of State for Works, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda, disclosed this when he led a team of a Special Task Force for the Palliative Repairs of the roads.
He listed the roads earmarked for immediate palliative repairs as Enugu-Port-Harcourt dual carriageway, Enugu-Onitsha dual carriageway and 9th Mile-Obollo Afor-Oturkpo-Makurdi road.
According to the minister, the Federal Government is determined to arrest the gridlock usually witnessed on these roads especially during festive periods. This, according to him, would facilitate traffic flow on all the sections of the road that are now in deplorable condition.
Ambassador Yuguda ,therefore, charged all the companies handling various sections of the roads to deliver the roads on schedule, so as to ease the hardship usually being witnessed by Nigerians plying these roads
The minister also assured Nigerians that the Federal Government has earmarked adequate funds to execute the immediate palliative repairs on these roads. He, however, emphasised that due to the significant economic importance of the roads, their total reconstruction and rehabilitation remain among the top priorities of this administration.
