FG Moves to Boost eCommerce Operations

President Goodluck Jonathan has reiterated the commitment of the federal government to boost eCommerce business, owing to its importance in showcasing Nigerian goods and services online.


To this effect, the president, penultimate week, invited Konga.com and other top eCommerce entrepreneurs to a meeting in Abuja to discus the way forward for online business in Nigeria.

Briefing Information and Communications Technology (ICT) journalists in Lagos on the outcome of the meeting recently, Chief Executive Officer of Konga.com, Mr. Sim Shagaya, said the president was impressed with the zeal and commitment put up by most entrepreneurs in driving online business in Nigeria, and called for government-private joint initiative that will drive eCommerce growth in Nigeria.
At the meeting, Jonathan stressed the need for eCommerce entrepreneurs to partner governments at all levels in building a strong ecosystem for online business in Nigeria.

According to Shagaya, "Konga.com is committed to provide the best customer experience through proper selection, competitive pricing and delivery. We are impressed with the recognition accorded us by President Goodluck Jonathan, which was largely due to the support we offer our online customers and the trust we have built  in them over the years."

The President's stance has always been to encourage local entrepreneurs within the online sector through various initiatives of the federal government, Shagaya said.


Giving details of Konga.com online business, Shagaya said they are in partnership with DHL for safe delivery of goods to any preferred destination by the customer. He said Konga.com would continue to offer free delivery services of goods that are above N15, 000.
With over 300, 000 products on its catalogue, Shagaya said customers could get 1 per cent discount on every product slated for delivery, should the customer pay online via Automated Teller Machine (ATM) or Point of Sales (PoS) machine.


Fielding questions on competition, Shagaya said "healthy competition brings out efficiency in service delivery, which in turn, boosts customer satisfaction." He said Konga.com would continue to drive eCommerce business in Nigeria, especially in logistics.

The online firm, he said, offered unmatched breadth of items to customers through the Internet and mobile phone, delivering products to their doorsteps and ensuring first-class customer experience to all customers at all times. "The thousands of products we have on offer, serve the needs of consumers looking for quality groceries, households, beauty and personal care, baby toys, computers, games and consoles, office books, home appliances, wrist watches, mobile and electronic products, among others" Shagaya said.
