FG Appoints 15-man Working Group for NEITI

President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the appointment of a 15-man National Stakeholders Working Group (NSWG) for the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI).

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim,  in a statement signed Tuesday, said Jonathan approved the new appointments following the end of tenure of the former working group

Anyim said the setting up of the new NSWG members to be chaired by Mr. Ledum Mitee was  in accordance with the provisions of Section 6 (1), NEITI Act 2007.

The composition of the NSWG apart from Mitee, has Hajia Mariam Ladi Ibrahim, Dr. Kate Okparaeke, Mr. Isaac
Boyi, Patrick Udonfang, Mrs. Abiola Enitan Edenaike , Abubakar Balarabe Mahmud (SAN), and Musa Nashumi as members.

Other are the chairman, OPTS,  (Rep. of Extractive Industry Companies), National Coordinator, Publish What You Pay in Nigeria (Rep. of civil society), President of PENGASSAN (Rep. of Labour Union in the extractive industries), Mr. Dominic Nwachukwu, MD, Ground Water Resources Ltd. (Expert in the extractive  industry), Mr. Bassey Ekefene, and Group Managing Director (NNPC), while the Executive Secretary, NEITI will serve as Secretary.

The SGF also disclosed that the new NSWG will be inaugurated at the Conference Room of the SGF on August 22, 2012
