In its effort to ensure the security of lives and property in the Federal Capital Territory  (FCT), its Minister, Senator Bala Muhammed, yesterday donated 114 vehicles worth N900 million to various security agencies.

According to him, the vehicles would assist the security agencies to tackle the security challenges which had affected residents in the nation’s capital.

The distribution breakdown of the vehicles revealed that the police got 75, military and the State Security Service (SSS) got 10 each, while the Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC) got two vehicles.

Other paramilitary organisations that got two vehicles each include Nigeria Immigration Service and the Nigerian Prisons Service.
National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) got one vehicle each while 11 of the vehicles were designated as Special Duties vehicle.

While responding, the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, urged the security agencies to re-double their efforts in ensuring that peace and security was sustained in the FCT.

“I want to urge you to also respect the rule of law while discharging your duties, and do what is right at all times, as any officer who allow himself to be caught behaving unruly will be punished,” Abubakar warned.
