IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja hosted the tournament
Hauwa Abdulahi and Tawa Ademola at the weekend combined to give the Federal Capital Territory victory in the Girls’ Category of State Team event at the 5th IBB Junior Open Championship.
The pair posted the total score of 460 gross to be on the driving seat.
Similarly, Onyeka O. Elom and Uchenna Anygor from Enugu State won in the Boys Category.
Abdulahi would later be rewarded for her shot-making depth after she carted home the best girl prize in the U-19 category following her gross score of 221.She also grabbed the longest drive prize.
Elom also flourished by winning the boys U-19 best prize, while Chemerie Isife shot 175 gross to win the flight ticket presented by Air France.
The IBB Junior tournament was organized by the Lady Section of IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja to encourage children to play golf as well as improve their game.
Over 50 junior golfers representing 15 states of the federation turned up and displayed their talent on the course.
Member of IBB Board of Trustees, Senator John Shagaya, who was the guest of honour at the event, said that the Junior Open should be a regular on the club’s calendar. He assured the kids of the readiness of the club to support the next edition.
