FCMB Emerges ‘Best in Pre-paid Card Issuance’

First City Monument Bank Plc (FCMB) said it has been honoured as the ‘Best Bank in Pre-paid Card Issuance for 2012,” at the annual Verve Bank Awards organised by Interswitch Nigeria Limited in Lagos recently.
The bank said in a statement yesterday that it beat two other nominees in the category to win the award.  It further quoted the organisers to have explained by emerging victorious for recording the highest growth in pre-paid cards, FCMB has “contributed significantly towards the realisation of the objectives of the cashless policy initiative.”
The organisers also noted that the bank had developed a suite of innovative and convenient card schemes tailored to meet the needs and support the business of its clients.

Among these are the SPAR Gift Card Scheme, the DSTV Payment Cards and Instant Issuance Card schemes among Corporate Expense Cards.
Director of Switching and Processing of Interswitch, Mr. Akeem Lawal, commended FCMB for the “clear-cut strategy and efforts put into driving prepaid card implementation, especially as it helps to promote financial inclusion for the under banked.”
While receiving the award on behalf of FCMB, the Group Head, High Networth Individuals and Affluent Segment of Consumer Banking, Mr. Akeem Mustafa, thanked Interswitch for recognising the bank’s efforts and contributions.

“FCMB would continue to endear itself to its customers and the public by deploying leading edge products and services that would enhance their well-being and promote financial inclusion,” he assured, adding “Our goal for 2013 is to sustain our position in prepaid cards and to continue driving significant growth in our debit and credit card businesses.”
