Former Ekiti State governor, Mr. Peter Ayodele Fayose, has said that he was not a former governor that anybody or group could intimidate because of his resolve to govern the state again.
Director of Publicity and Research, Ayo Fayose Campaign Organisation, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, in a statement said Fayose stated this against the backdrop of what he termed the unhealthy politicking born out of struggles by some aspirants to get the party’s ticket.
“I am not a former governor that anybody or group can intimidate. I am in the race purposely to stop the political and economic drift in the state,” he said.
The former governor claimed that Ekiti State belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), adding that the Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN) took over the state due to misunderstandings among the state PDP leaders.
Fayose said the differences have been sorted out and PDP is now ready to reclaim the state.
The former governor who stated this in Emure Ekiti while addressing leaders and members of the PDP said he decided to come out to contest the 2014 Ekiti Governorship poll to stop the political and economic drift in the state.
While addressing the party’s faithful at Otun Ekiti, Fayose revealed why he asked party members in the two Local Governments to pray for him. “I believe strongly in prayer. I am a Christian. I rely only on power of God. God has helped me to triumph over my adversaries. If I must return to the Government House again, every of my supporters must pray,” he said.
He urged Ekiti people to queue behind the PDP to chase out the ACN-led government in next year’s poll.
