Governor Babatunde Fashola

By  Yinka Kolawole

Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola and  Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State yesterday expressed shock and deep sadness about the brutal killing of Laitan Oyerinde who was private secretary to Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

Fashola in a letter of condolence to his Edo State counterpart urged him to “remain strong and focused as he faces the task ahead during this trying times, especially as it is coming barely a week after a road accident involving the governor’s convoy.”

Aregbesola described the midnight murder “as a manifestation of the recent alarm that there is an orchestrated plot to cause violence through killing of certain political office holders in the country.

Aregbesola in a statement by his Director of Communications and Strategy, Mr Semiu Okanlawon said “the dastardly killing of Oyerinde

confirms our fears and suspicion that the “accident” in the convoy of Oshiomhole was a plot to assassinate the governor by the same agents of do-or-die politics who believe that Edo State must be ‘captured’ from the Action Congress of Nigeria come next governorship election.”

  • Pls let ACN and other opposition parties join hands together and flush PDP out of power to save this country from perishing

  • There isn't any proof to support the notion that this killing of the private secretary was politically motivated. For all that we know this could be an internal party attempt and not the work of opposition parties. But rather the ACN should blame the lack of adequate security and poor infrastructures as the cause.

  • No matter what Edo opposition plans or does, it will be easier for an elephant to pass through the eye of a needle than for them to take over the state from ACN. How will they win the election in a state where the electorates have seen the difference between truth and falsehood. Death awaits those who kill for the sake of power.

  • If the politicians in Nigeria are truly coming to power to transform the life of their citizen, why do they have to kill to get to power? The answer is simple, greed and selfish intrest
