In spite of the negative depiction of Nigeria both locally and internationally, some individuals have distinguished themselves in their various fields, serving their fatherland with honor, integrity and honesty making themselves role models.
In order to encourage these individuals and corporate bodies to continue in their efforts in making the society a better place, the Hall of Grace (HOG) recently honoured some individuals and corporate organisations during an event that witnessed a plethora of awards as honour came the way of the likes of wife of the Lagos State governor, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola, Deputy Managing Director/Deputy Editor-
In-Chief of the Sun Publishing Limited, Mr. Femi Adeshina, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Little Fish Records, Solomon Ogbuehi, CEO YEMKEM, Dr. Akintunde Ayeni, Publisher, YES International, Sir Azuh Arinze, CEO Elizabeth R, Mrs. Ibidun Itua Ighodalo, former guber aspirant, Chief Abel Adijala, CEO Globacom, Dr. Mike Adenuga, GMD First Bank, Mr. Bisi Onasanya, His Majesty Oba Frederick Akinrutan; First Bank PLC; VIJU; GT Bank among many others.
The awards included: Female Role Model of the Year 2012, Award of Excellence in Journalism, New Record Label of the Year 2012, Special Recognition Award 2012, The Heart of Gold Award 2012, Pride of Award 2012, CEO/Banker of the Year 2012, Man of the Year Award 2012, Bank of the Year Award, The Child’s Drink of the Year 2012, Nollywood Star of the Year, among many others.
The grand custodian of the award, Chief Alex Akinyele, during the event said HOG award is a huge platform upon which deserving Nigerians are celebrated.
“I sincerely believe that if everyone in our nation will man his position with the right heart and a willingness to sacrifice and become the best he can be, its only matter of time before we become that nation we have always dreamed of,” he said.
For the chief organiser of the occasion, Rupert Ojenuwa- publisher/managing custodian, the epoch making event was a celebration of excellence.
“In spite of all the disturbing trends in the nation, there are people who have decided to move this nation forward in their different fields of endeavours. These Nigerians are role models and that is the essence of HOG awards. It is all about celebrating Nigerians who are role models.”
The HOG, he said is an attempt to look away from the many issues Nigeria faces to celebrate the many people and corporate bodies, who despite the challenges work tirelessly to contribute and improve the industries they have found themselves.
