Managing Director of FAAN, Mr. George Uriesi
The management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has called on the workers of the agency to adapt themselves to the transformational changes taking place in the parastatal and to internalise the aviation master plan that will guide development in the sector with a view to enhancing their efficiency in service delivery.
The Managing Director of FAAN, Mr. George Uriesi, made this call during a strategic session with the management of the authority, enjoining them to translate the vision and mission of the Authority into realisable and achievable building blocks.
Uriesi stated that the organisation must change the business model of the airport into one that was self-sustaining and create a conducive business environment that would be attractive to the private sector, adding that the authority’s management was committed to equipping the airports with modern, state-of-the-art facilities, in line with global trends.
He therefore charged top management to put into practice strategic imperatives acquired from the just-concluded ministerial retreat held for the top management of aviation parastatals by the ministry aviation.
Uriesi remarked that the strategic thrust of that retreat was to make air transport a preferred and safest means of transportation. It was also designed to create a self-sustaining business model and develop socio-economic growth in Nigeria.
He also charged the members of the agency’s leadership team to mobilise their immediate staff, aviation stakeholders and the general public to participate actively in on-going transformation of Nigerian airports.
