Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger
These are definitely not the best of times for Arsenal fans following their worst start in Premier League history, leaves the Gunners in real danger of missing out of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in 15 years.
Arsene Wenger, who has been in charge the last 16 years, which also coincided with the club’s most glorious years (he won 11 titles – three league, four FA Cups and four Community Shields) is now coming under increasing scrutiny following his failure or inability to turn things around.
No trophy since 2005, the 63-year-old Frenchman had repeatedly assured that his ‘young team’ would come clean and end their trophy drought. However, as the years have rolled by without any change his words have become hollowed.
Now instead of talking about a ‘young team’ Wenger has told Arsenal faithful that winning a UEFA Champions League ticket is “even more important than winning trophies!”
So with such words coming out of their manager’s mouth, Arsenal fans have two stark choices: stick with just winning a Champions League ticket or turn their backs on their darling team and possibly join a club that will deliver what they crave for – trophies!
This afternoon the Gunners face a tricky London derby against Tottenham Hotspur with no guarantee that they will triumph.
Unfortunately for those of us enjoying Gunners’ fans anguish we can only hope that their stuttering form continues; after all as we all know: “one man’s misfortune is another’s blessing!”
