Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Health, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, has rewarded a woman Mrs Elizabeth Adeyanju, who won the Long Service Award of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) with N500,000.

He told Adeyanju who had put in 25 years in the service without blemish and others that: “To whom much is given, much is expected. It should propel you to do better whether honoured or not."

At the occasion, which was also used to send off former members of the governing board, and former registrars of MLSCN, the current Registrar, Prof. Anthony Emeribe, assured that they would not relent in the ongoing transformation aimed at strengthening medical laboratory systems and bequeathing a legacy of quality laboratory diagnoses to the entire citizenry.

Attributing the success recorded by his admintration to the foundation laid by his predecessors, Emeribe said: "It is the foundation you laid, the pedestal you raised that is enabling us to take Council and the medical laboratory science profession and services to new heights."

He disclosed that workers from other public servants were now struggling to transfer their services to the agency, because "clearly, we must be doing something right."

The Registrar urged awardees to let the Council's efforts galvanise them and the rest toward improved productivity.
Among those sent off were a former Chairman of the governing board, Prof. Dennis Agbonlahor, and two former Registrars, Dr. S.M. Osuaha (1988-1994) and Elizabeth Okonkwo (1994-2010).
