Two factions of civil society groups and election observation bodies have expressed divergent views over the credibility or otherwise of the recent local government area elections in Edo state.

The disagreement between election observers came just as the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) described the allegation of rigging made by the People's Democratic Party (PDP) as Illogical.

One of the election observer groups under the aegis of accredited civil society groups for the local government elections in Edo state which addressed journalists yesterday in Abuja, said the council election was peaceful, free and fair.
The coordinator of the group, Prince Chris Azor and Secretary, Comrade Victor Kalu who signed the communiqué said it was ethically wrong for any  election observer group to rush to the media first without discussing  its observations with the electoral management body.

"We noted that EDSIEC was resolute, prepared and committed conducting a credible free and fair local government election in the state.
