LOC Chairman, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire
Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the 18th National Sports Festival, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire has said that the sporting fiesta will be redefined at EKO 2012.
Speaking at a media briefing in Lagos Tuesday, Orelope-Adefulire who is Lagos State deputy governor assured stakeholders that lots of innovations would be witnessed at the games scheduled to hold in November.
She said that by next month, Lagosians would begin to feel the impact of the state hosting the National Sports Festival.
While unveiling the windows of opportunities in the sporting fiesta, the LOC boss said: “Once again, I wish to say that in the spirit of the game, in Eko 2012, we are determined to promote the core values of striving for excellence, demonstrating respect and celebrating friendship. Eko 2012 no doubt promises to showcase our attractive aqua cultures, project our beautiful skyline, fresh green landscapes and re-enact the warmth of our hospitality. It is bound to redefine national sports festival in Nigeria.”
She added: “The countdown to November dateline therefore assumes a momentous speed today. Get ready to see more than the games! Get ready to witness a show! Get ready to see an unforgettable spectacle! Get ready to see what qualifies us for that mantra, “Eko for Show”! And if I may add, get ready to see what really are; Eko for Actions!” We will showcase the best of our business, our inviting entertainment, our rich cultures and indeed our exciting sporting spirit.”
She emphasised that lots of windows of opportunities are open to organised private sector.
“This is in line with our philosophy on public-private partnership to drive the wheel of service delivery. On behalf of the LOC, I have the pleasure and honour to hereby announce that EKO 2012 is open to corporate sponsorship and partnership and we are assuring our sponsors and partners that this is a win-win partnership.”
Among the opportunities she said were available include principal and associate partners for corporate bodies.
With Alliance Autos Limited that has already donated five vehicles to the LOC, the Deputy Governor charged other companies to take a cue from the auto firm by identifying with the festival.
With working ongoing in some of the infrastructure to be used for the championship, the LOC boss said: “Once again, I wish to say that in the spirit of the games, in EKO 2012, we are determined to promote the core values of striving for excellence, demonstrating respect and celebrating friendship. Eko 2012 no doubt promises to showcase our attractive aqua cultures, project our beautiful skyline, fresh green landscapes and re-enact the warmth of our hospitality. It is bound to redefine National Sports Festival in Nigeria.”
The event was also used to formally engage the services of marketing companies that will market the games to the corporate bodies
