The Managing Director of Guinness Nigeria Plc, Seni Adetu, has described the partnership between the beverage company and the Local Organising Committee (LOC), for the 18th National Sports Festival tagged Eko 2012, would help to ignite the spirit of friendship among Nigerians.
With Harp Lager, a Guinness Nigeria brand, named as the official beer for the sports fiesta, Adetu believes the brand would also help to promote the ideals of the festival, which is unity among the participating states.
“We are delighted to work with the Lagos State Government towards the upcoming festival. We all know that Harp Lager is best enjoyed with friends and so for us this partnership is one that will help push that message to Lagosians and Nigerians. We want to identify with the message of the Torch of Unity Relay ‘the flames of friendship’ and Eko 2012 ‘ignite the spirit of friendship’ and we believe Harp is best placed to drive that message home for us,” Adetu said.
Adetu made this known during the unveiling of the partnership at a formal signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Torch of Unity Relay, Eko 2012 and Guinness Nigeria, at the company’s headquarters in Lagos that the partnership is one that will foster friendship and camaraderie throughout the games.
Chairman of the Marketing and Sponsorship sub-committee of the LOC, Chief Molade Okoya-Thomas, expressed gratitude to Guinness for its support to the festival and the Lagos State Government.
Guinness Nigeria Plc has a robust history of supporting sporting activities across the country with its partnership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Super Eagles a prominent deal. It also has support for National Division One Handball League Championship, Benin Golf Tournament and Kaduna Polo Tournament. The shirt sponsorship of Enyimba Football Club and Shooting Stars Football Club through Dubic Extra Lager is another of such.
