Former Minister for Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode
Former Minister for Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, was yesterday re-arraigned before a Federal High Court in Lagos on a fresh 47-count charge of money laundering.
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), is prosecuting the case.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge after same was read to him.
Counsel to the accused, after the charge was read to Fani-Kayode, prayed the court to allow the accused continue with the bail conditions granted by Justice Ramat Mohammed, the former judge who heard the matter in 2009.
His counsel also prayed the judge to allow the accused liberty to travel abroad at will for medical check, saying the second trial judge, Justice Binta Murtala Nyako, granted such leave to the accused.
The prosecuting counsel, did not oppose the bail, but asked for a trial date.
The trial judge, Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, in a short ruling, allowed the accused to continue with the earlier bail granted by Justice Mohammed and adjourned further hearing in the case till March 11, 12 and 13.
Fani-Kayode’s re-arraignment, followed the transfer of the former trial.
