Ecobank Promotes Money Transfer System for Students

Ecobank Nigeria Plc has said it had introduced the ‘School Time Again,’ promotion ahead of the new resumption date for secondary and primary schools in the country.

A statement from the bank Tuesday , said the scheme was to encourage the use of its ‘rapid transfer system,’ by Parents and guardians for the payment of school fees.

It said  the product was available to both customers and non-customers of the bank, adding that it facilitated easy transfer and access to funds across the country as well as enabling money transfers to and from any of the 30 African countries where Ecobank is represented.

Ecobank’s Head, Cards and e-Product, Mr. Mike Ogbalu, was quoted to have said that the “School Time Again” promo provides a special window for parents to pay their children and wards school fees and other necessary upkeep allowances with the ‘Rapid Transfer’.

According to Ogbalu, “the Rapid Transfer, which is the first of its kind in Nigeria, was designed to save the customers from the risk of carrying cash as well as facilitate easy payment for goods and services across Nigeria. It also enables easy payments across African borders without the hassles of sourcing for foreign exchange as the payments are made in the local currencies of both the transfer and the receiving countries.”


The Rapid Transfer he added is very suitable for trans-border traders, schools/students, travellers, and parents, foreign nationals residing in Nigeria, churches, missions, embassies, consulates, and regional airlines/transporters amongst others.

“The Rapid Transfer product is one of the innovative products of the Ecobank Group developed out of the need to provide convenient, accessible, and reliable money transfer system for its retail and wholesale customers, thereby contributing to the financial and economic development of Africa,” he added.

Ogbalu emphasised that the uniqueness of the product was its swiftness in delivery and accessibility as transactions were consummated within 5 minutes at the receiving African country.
