The Super Eagles are not leaving anything to chance in their quest to become African Kings again at the Nations Cup which kicks off in South Africa next month.
The players are hitting the gym in their own private time, to develop a bit more bulk as the d-day for event draws nearer.
“The players are in the gym right now, and Stephen Keshi is with them as the battle for places hots up,” Ben Alaiya told futaa.com on Monday.
“The major thing the team was to do this morning was just for the boys to get a massage, and rest up a bit before the early evening training, but they are opting to go do some work at the gym without being prompted.”
According to Alaiya, the players told the coach that they usually do weight training after ball work at their club sides, and they don't want to miss that rhythm.
“For the players, it is all about Nigeria. They told the coach they want to bring joy to the fans, that's why they are taking this serious,” Alaiya added.
The players are doing the extra training with the approval and supervision of the team trainers, who ensure that they don't overdo it.
