A lecturer at the University of Ilorin, (UNILORIN), Prof. Olabisi Olasehinde-Williams, has called on educational institutions in the country to establish and implement a distinct academic integrity policy as part of measures to avert anarchy in Nigerian higher education system.
This, she said would create a complete specification of responsibilities, obligations and rights of all stakeholders in the education sector.
In an inaugural lecture titled ‘Without Wax: Reformatting Tertiary Education in Nigeria’, she described the current situation at the education sector as Academic Integrity Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
The Director of the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies and professor of Educational Psychology also explored the philosophical, psychological, sociological, systemic and spiritual factors and other issues which tilted higher education in the country, and proffered solution.
She implored UNILORIN to champion the course by adopting its already developed Academic Integrity Policy draft and called on the government to put definite structures in place to encourage technical education.
