The federal government Tuesday warned the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and other opposition political parties in Nigeria to stop politicizing crimes and criminal activities, while describing the visit of governors coalescing into the All Progressive Congress (APC) recent visit to Maidugiri as sheer opportunism and recklessness aimed at scoring cheap political advantages.
Opposition parties led by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) had claimed that the assassination of Asadu was a sign of failed state and blamed the ruling Peoples Democratic Party for level of insecurity in the country.
However, reacting, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs Dr. Doyin Okupe told newsmen in Abuja Tuesday: "It is unthinkable that any rational citizen or serious political party will seize the opportunity to acquire any political mileage without considering the interest of the deceased grieving family."
