Digital Jewels, a specialised Information Technology Company has emerged the first ISO 27001 Information Security Management System (ISMS) Consultant registered with the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON).
The ISO certification was presented to the company by the British Standard Institute (BSI).
BSI representative, Mr. Omar Rashid Daod at an event, which coincided with the celebration of the 50th edition of Digital Jewels monthly Information Value Chain (IVC) Breakfast Forum in Lagos in September.
Presenting the award, Omar commended Digital Jewels for the achievement and enjoined the company to be unswerving in staying atop in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry in the country. With the award, Digital Jewels have emerged the only Consultant registered with The Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) Registration No: SRAC0025.
As part of its achievements, Digital Jewels secured the Information Security Management System Certification (ISO/IEC 27001:2005) awarded by the British Standard Institute (BSI) for Galaxy Backbone Plc, Fidelity Bank Plc and Unity Bank Plc respectively; in addition to having consistently held 50 editions of the monthly Information Value Chain (IVC) Breakfast Forum.
As part of the activities marking the 50th milestone edition of IVC, past speakers at the forum were in attendance, while the 2nd edition of IVC Publication – Chronicles of Thought Leaders: A Synopsis of IVC Presentations was unveiled by Mrs. Sola David-Borha, Managing Director/CEO Stanbic-IBTC Plc. The monthly Information Value Chain (IVC) Breakfast Forum is specially designed to bring together, Information and Communication Technology professionals across diverse sectors of the economy.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Information Officer MTN Nigeria, Mr. Charles Molapisi identified Operational Cost, Business Process Flexibility and IT/Business Alignment as the three phased approach transformation from Information Technology to Business Technology. In his presentation titled “Technology in Telecoms: A tool for cost reduction or differentiation,” Molapisi, explained that to enhance organisation’s value proposition, technology must ensure prioritisation is driven as a collective effort, develop a model or run rate for retiring applications, Imbibe enterprises architecture as an enterprise strategy not IT; and analytics centric decision making in the organisation.
Sharing the successes of the IVC forum in the last 50 editions since inception in 2008, Digital Jewels Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Adedoyin Odunfa explained that the forum stems from the company’s desire to share knowledge, exchange information and encourage interaction among professionals.
