MD, Diamond Bank, Dr Alex Oti
Diamond Bank Plc yesterday expressed delight at the prevailing security situation in Abia state and donated five patrol vehicles to complement efforts of the state government.
Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Diamond Bank, Dr Alex Oti, gave the commendation when he led a delegation of the bank’s officials to hand over the vehicles to Abia State Governor, Theodore Orji.
Oti said the gesture was in consolidation of the business relationship between Diamond Bank and the state, adding that the bank would continue to give more support to the state in other ways.
The Diamond bank boss also explained that the move was also part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Oti stressed that Abia had now become a reference point in terms of adequate security, which he pointed out was very vital for businesses to thrive.
In his response, Orji said that the contribution of Diamond Bank was very encouraging at this period that efforts were being galvanised to ensure sustainability of the prevailing security in Abia, adding that the bank had always been a good partner in progress.
“Our target is to sustain the security and we’re determined to sustain it,” he said, adding that his confidence was bolstered by the presence of military formations in Abia and the cooperation of the police and other security agencies.
He recalled the dark days of insecurity in Abia when kidnappers and other criminal elements held sway, sparing nobody including the bankers.
According to him, as a result of effective partnership with the federal government the security situation in the state had improved.
The governor called on other banks and corporate organisations in Abia to emulate the gesture of Diamond Bank.
