The Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Sam Adeyemi, Sunday hosted Nigeria’s team to the 2012 London Paralympic Games, congratulating them for realising their potentials and using it to bring honour to the country.

Pastor Adeyemi recalled that while Team Nigerian to the London Olympic Games failed to win any medal, it was the paralympians who brought joy to Nigerians, winning as much as six gold medals.

“For a society that does not have respect for people with disabilities, we decided to recognise these worthy ambassadors. We believe that even in disability, there are areas that God can still use you for good,” observed the Daystar senior pastor.

He said that what the paralympians have exhibited was in line with the philosophy of the Daystar Christian Centre.

“What we aspire to do is what you are doing already. You have proved that we can turn disability into opportunities. Even in the face of having to compete with athletes from countries with better training infrastructures, you still defeated them to win gold medals,” stressed Pastor Adeyemi.

He urged them not to relent as there were still more laurels waiting for them to win for the country.

The clergy however hinted that his church was going to look into ways of assisting the paralympians with training equipment and other facilities that will further improve their performances.

Chief Coach of the Paralympians, Areh Feyisetan, commended the church for hosting them and promised on behalf of the athletes to bring more glory to Nigeria.

All the Team Nigeria paralympians, led by gold medallist, Yakubu Adesokan, were at the church service which held at Daystar’s Oregun, Lagos headquarters. Others present include; Esther Onyema, Grace Anozie, Lovely Obije, Lucy Ejike, Alice Bade, Victoria Nneji, Joy Onaolapo, Patience Igbiti, Tony Unonam, Eucharia Iheaze, Obichukwu Ikechukwu and Ivory Nwokore.
