He was doing what he knows best; that is singing and entertaining at an event hosted by the governor of his home state, Chief Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State, when he got an approving beckon that changed the course of his life. Unknown to Kingsley Joseph Nyong, better known as, Cyclops, in the audience that night was the CEO of Davancy Records.
The record label owner was impressed with what he heard and saw and decided to give the budding singer a contract. For the Mass Communications student of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, who claimed to have started singing since he was five years old, it was a dream come true to secure a four-year-two-album deal which also includes a management contract.
At a recent unveiling of the artiste and his record label at Troy Lounge in Victoria Island, Lagos, Johnson Adumike, COO of Davancy explained that his company sees in Cyclops an artiste who is versatile enough to deliver different genres of music with excellence. The event was tagged, ‘The Birth of Positive Change’.
Cyclops honed his singing skill as a chorister, singing tenor in the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star church. He is currently promoting two songs, ‘Iyaya Owei’ and ‘Your Logo’ from his forthcoming album. Much of his inspiration comes from God and from happenings around him.
Since he began to take music seriously, Cyclops has become a regular in major shows that take place in his city of residence, Uyo.
The Birth of Positive Change show was a concert of sorts as other burgeoning artistes like J Quest, Three Crown and Cynthiamana also took turns to thrill the crowd.
