The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Friday took exception to the  statement by the President's  Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs  Dr Doyin Okupe, the that General Muhammadu Buhari incited his supporters to resort to violence during the 2011 electioneering campaigns.

Okupe's statement which came as a reaction to last Wednesday's blame heaped on the Federal Government by Buhari for the escalation of the Boko Haram insurgency. Buhari had  at an interactive session with Journalists after the CPC Board of Trustees’ meeting on Wednesday, labelled the PDP-led government of President Goodluck Jonathan as the author of the political variant of Boko-Haram.

However, the President's Aide saw the refusal of the former Head of State to partake in peace negotiations to end the Boko Haram conflict as a retreat, saying it is too late in the day for the CPC leader to back out.
