Kebbi State chapter of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) has filed a petition asking the Local Government Election Petitions Tribunal in the state to nullify the chairmanship election of three local government areas in the September 15 local government election for lack of qualification.
The tribunal had initially sacked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates, who were earlier declared winners by the state Independent Electoral Commission (KESIEC) for not possessing the requisite qualifications.
Addressing journalists yesterday, the state Secretary of CPC, Mr. Shehu Marshal, said his party had filled a petition asking the tribunal to declare the CPC candidates as winners.
“The PDP candidates declared winners for Zuru, Koko Besse and Maiyama local government area chairmanship positions by KESIEC are not qualified. They don’t have the required qualification to man the seats,” he said.
He said his party had filled a petition to the tribunal demanding that the candidates be disqualified and that those of the CPC declared as winners.
