Plateau people in Jos South/Jos East federal constituency of Plateau State, Saturday unanimously rejected the indigenisation of settlers who have stayed long in an area.
The matter, which has been a contentious one in the state, came up at the People’s Public Session on the Review of the 1999 Nigerian constitution which was Saturday hosted by Honourable Bitrus Kaze at the Treasure Inn Jos.
The question, which was greeted by a swift, loud and unanimous rejection, was: “Should indigenship of an area be defined to include persons who have resided in an area for continuous long period, and therefore entitled to accruing right, duties and privileges?”
