NAETO C and MI
By Adewole Ajao
One idea, two artists and hundreds of empty Hennessy V.S.O.P. bottles wrapped up another successful Hennessey Artistry video with colleagues of M.I and Naeto C doffing their hats to the duos dexterity with this year’s theme. The August 17 premiere of the exciting video during a packed evening at The Penthouse, Villa Picasso in Lagos also drew attention to the need for similar collaborations between artists of repute.
“We need more of these collaborations and the brands should wake up,” said rapper Ill Bliss. “The song was massive. I saw the production process and they kept picking and scrapping. It has a catchy chorus and I love M.I’s bars. I preferred M.I’s verse and Naeto C singing the chorus was enough for me.”
With a song produced by TY Mix and a video forged by Clarence Peters, the premiere sets the pace for club tours around the country. These will kick off later in the month with Naeto C and M.I doing their thing alongside a handful of promising acts in major cities.
“Hennessey’s platform in terms of entertainment is definitely recognisable and to be a part of it is something I am proud of,” Naeto C said. “I have known M.I from way back and we have tried to do stuff before but it just never worked out. So it is just like a part three or four of what we were doing before.”
Clarence Peters was full of thanks to the brand for making the much-awaited collaboration possible. While disclosing the rigour his team entailed in putting the video together, he was upbeat about its prospects.
“I just thank Hennessey for making this possible and giving me the chance to work with these two while allowing the music to come out. The song is where it starts from before it goes way up there.”
