The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) in Ekiti State has thrown its weight behind the endorsement of the state Governor, Kayode Fayemi, by leaders of the Action Congress Nigeria (ACN) in the state for a second term in office.
Chairman of the CNPP in the state, Mr. Tunji Ogunlola, who disclosed this Tuesday in a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti, said the need to support the endorsement became necessary in view of the infrastructure development in the state.
He also threatened that the conference would mobilise against any political party that selects candidate known for violence.
The statement noted that the state had been enjoying peace since Fayemi came into office.
The statement read in part: “The CNPP at a meeting held at the beginning of the year advised political parties in the state against fielding politicians who are violent. Parties should pick credible candidates.
“Any political party which picks a violent candidate would not enjoy the support of the CNPP and even such would not be supported by the people of the state.”
