CMCL Open: Igbene promise Great Golfing, as Odoh Set to Defend Title

The highbrow IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, would be agog with festivities as golfers drawn from across the country storm the Aso Drive golf course for the 16th CMCL Open Golf Championship from May 20. The event is to mark the birthday celebration of Nigeria’s biggest golf sponsor, Otunba Olusola Adekanola, who double as the Chairman of CMCL Golf Tours
The PRO-AM golfing event will have the Professionals play for four days from  May 20, while the amateurs play for two days on May 24 and 25.

The Chief Executive Officer of the CMCL Golf Tours Limited, Frank Igbene has promised all golfers a good time during the one week tournament.
“There will be fantastic socials, excellent giveaways, enough leisure, music and more”, he said, adding, CMCL, we have a tradition with standards. We know how to make golfer happy. It is going to be a golfing birthday with a difference”.
With preparations already in top gear, the tournament defending champion, Andrew Ochei Odoh, who just returned from Cameroon where he competed at the Cameroon Open said he is ready to defend his title.

Though Odoh is in top shape for the title defence, players like Mike Ubi, Kingsley Oparaku, Willy Gift, the Akpodiete brothers are other players to watch out for in the competition.
The weeklong competition will also witness high profile amateur golfers like Senate President David Mark, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, Tim Ayonmike, Seyi Siwoku , Tunde Oremule, Tony Azogu , Johnson Salako and Malik among others.

The defending champion in the amateur category, Abimiku Francis is also expected to defend his title.
