Governor Sullivan Chime
Enugu State Governor, Mr Sullivan Chime, has expressed delight at the establishment of an international helicopter flight training school in Enugu by the Nigerian Airforce.
Chime said the school would cement the city's growing reputation as a conducive base for many important institutions.
Receiving the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshall Mohammed Dikko Umar at the Government House Enugu, Chime also commended the Force for the role that its officers are playing in ensuring a high level of security in the state.
He said that the establishment of the Helicopter school was timely especially now that the state is working towards reasserting itself, adding that it would add to the immense benefits that the state and its citizens have been enjoying from the partnership and cooperation of the Nigerian Airforce.
In a press statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Chukwudi Achife, the state chief executive officer, while congratulating Air Marshal Umar on his appointment, promised to offer full support to the force in its projects in the state especially in the area of acquisition of land for the establishment of an independent and permanent base for its operations.
Earlier in his address, Air Marshal Umar who came with many top officials of the Force, commended the governor for the immense contributions that his government has continued to make towards improving the living standards and work conditions of personnel of the Air Force in the state.
He disclosed that the Helicopter flight school will commence operation next Month, adding that he was in the state to ascertain the extent of work on the site.
He pledged the continued cooperation and support of the Force to the state government in its effort at ensuring a peaceful and conducive atmosphere for investors and other stakeholders to thrive.
