Chevron Donates Relief Materials Flood Victims

Chevron Nigeria Limited has joined the league of sympathisers to the flood disaster victims in Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State with donation of relief materials to the Imo State government for onward distribution to the hapless victims.

Presenting the relief materials, on behalf of the Chevron and Nigerian National Petroleum company (NNPC), the Global memorandum of understanding (GMOU) coordinator and representative of Policy Government and Public Affairs of Chevron, Mr. Tom Akagbosu, assured the state government of the company’s continued commitment to partner with it in the sustainable development of the state.

Akabogu stated that in addition to the materials donated that Chevron and its partners had donated N50 million to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in support of the flood victims.

He maintained that what Chevron had done was in fulfillment of her social responsibilities as a multi-national company operating in the state.

Receiving the items on behalf of the state government, the Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Professor Anthony Anwuka, thanked the oil company for its intervention.

Anwuka stated that the state government was grappling with the immediate effect of the flood and solicited the continued support of the oil companies operating in the state to the state government as it deals with the challenge of the aftermath of the flood.
