All is now set for the kick off of the 9th Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Golf Tournament Friday at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Based in Kaduna.
Addressing newsmen in Kaduna on Wednesday, the Chairman of the Tournament Organising Committee, Air Commodore Austin Jekennu said the two-day event is expected to attract golfers from across the country.
He said participants are made up of Air force officers, officers from other arms of the military like the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Police as well as corporate organisations.
Jekennu added that Golf Clubs from Jos, Zaria, Jaji and Kaduna would be playing together with the Air force officers at the Wuyep Golf site at the NAF Base, Kaduna.
According to him, the tournament which started in 2003 is one of the important sporting events in the NAF, saying that the previous editions were held in various parts of the country.
Jekennu explained further that one of the key objectives of the tournament is to foster military- civil relationship, assuring that adequate security measures had been put in place to ensure the success of the event.
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh, Governor Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna state and his Adamawa state counterpart, Murtala Nyako are expected to grace the opening ceremony.
