The Super Falcons of Nigeria lost a tightly contested semi final Wednesday to Banyana Banyana of South Africa.

The game was end to end stuff from the opening whistle with both teams trying to impose their will on each other. While the West Africans initially seemed quicker it was the team from the South that took advantage of their chances with better finishing, reports

A howler of a bomb from the Bayana Number 5 was taken almost from midfield and it beat GK Precious Dede who crashed into the post in her attempt to keep the ball out.

It resulted in one of tournaments most spectacular goals.

The 2nd half settled into chess match with Nigeria throwing everything at the Bayana goal while the latter sought to punish them with surging counter attacks.

At the end of the day time ran out for the defending champions and the South Africans got their first victory over a team has often been their nemesis.

South Africa will now face hosts Equatorial Guinea in the Finals.
