The Association of Proprietors of Football Academies in Nigeria (A.P.F.A.N.), has admitted C.O.D United as its newest member.

The association, who are the organisers of the annual National Adefemi Olubayo Championship for Under 17 boys which C.O.D United won only a few months ago, recently awarded a certificate of membership to the team at a brief ceremony at the APFAN secretariat in Lagos.

Former Bolton Wanderers and Manchester United youth coach, Mick Wild, who now works as director of football of C.O.D United, received the certificate on behalf of the team.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Akinremi Francis, a board member of APFAN and senior lecturer at the National Institute of Sports, who presented certificate, said that the association has admitted over 60 academies across the nation in just two years of existence.

Apart from joining the body, C.O.D United also reached an agreement with APFAN while donating money for the continued growth of the association.

C.O.D United currently runs a unique football developmental programme, first of its kind in Nigeria with its five cadre teams, which are the Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, Under-16 and Under-21 teams.

Wild was recently hired to run the entire youth technical and non-technical departments of C.O.D United and to manage the transition of players from one cadre to another. Recently, three graduates from the academy, Nansel Selboh, Ismiala Podoh and Tunde Akinsemoyin all signed professional contracts with the first team, which is currently playing in the Nigerian National League and looking to gain promotion to the premier league.
