Two Indians were yesterday feared killed at Gum Arabic Factory located at Bayan quarters in Maiduguri metropolis, Borno State, by gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram.
Beside killing the two Indians, it was also gathered that another Indian was injured during the attack but was later rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.
Confirming the killings, the spokesman of the Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Restore Order, Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, said: “Suspected members of Boko Haram terrorists attacked a Gum Arabic Factory located at Bayan quarters, Maiduguri metropolis today (yesterday) at about 1000 hrs during heavy rain/downfall. The incident led to the death of two Indians, one wounded and is receiving treatment at the State Specialist Hospital.”
He further said: “Suspects made away with Ninety Nine Thousand Naira from the factory.”
Musa said the area had been cordoned off, while a search to apprehend the culprits was on course.
Meanwhile, four persons were feared killed by a yet-to-be-identified gunmen on Monday evening, in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
In the killings on Monday evening, a cameraman with the state Ministry of Information, Mallam Abubakar Mohammed, was shot dead around the Customs area of the state’s metropolis. Abubakar, who was said to be on his way home after an official assignment, was allegedly killed at about 4pm.
Another person, whose identity was not immediately known but identified as a staff of Maiduguri International Hotel was reportedly shot dead at Bulumkutu, which was close to his residence.
The other two victims were a panel beater, identified as Baba Ayo was killed at his residence located behind Baga market by unknown gunmen, while the retired civil servant whose name could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report, was allegedly killed at Gwange.
The retired civil servant, according to sources, was said to have been killed in front of his residence in the full glare of everyone. When contacted, Musa said he was unaware of the incident.
