Boko Haram Islamic sect early Sunday morning launched twin bomb attacks on churches in both Abuja and Jos reportedly leaving at least 40 people dead and many more injured.

There are conflicting figures on the numbers of worshipers killed or injured by a bomb blast that exploded in the premises of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Madala, Niger State close to Zuba, FCT, shortly after the 6am Mass of Nativity.

Unconfirmed sources gave NEMA account of 25, while a security officer who was at the scene where evacuation was going on gave another figure of 41. However, Rev. Fr. Isaac Achi who pastors the church pointed to at least 17 vehicles, the wreckage of the aftermath explosion said Fr. Achi. " The owners of these vehicles cued up to drive home after the early morning mass where the message of love, peace and joy was delivered to herald the Feast of Nativity. Sadly, what we met was this ugly situation.

A victim was found on the roof of the church. Dead bodies were found in gutters. And many families were burnt beyond recognition inside these vehicles. I do not have the exact number of those recorded dead or injured. The victims have been moved to different hospitals but at St. Lucas hospital, 9 of my parishioners were recorded dead. At Gwagwalada, six were recorded dead, while at Diamond Hospital, a little baby of 5 years who was injured could not locate his parents. Among the victims could have been okada riders and kabukabu taxi drivers who come here to pick passengers  every Sunday. I dont usually cry, but today i wept with my house-hold of 5000 worshippers, seeing some of our brethren  bombed out of existence. Nigeria must intensify its efforts in the area of security and guarranty freedon of movement and worship."

According to eyewitnesses, the Abuja blast tore through St Theresa's Church in Madalla as worshippers gathered for Christmas services.

The second explosion, which occurred shortly after the Abuja attack, hit a church in Jos, killed at least one policeman and destroyed three vehicles.

The area around the scene of the Abuja blast degenerated into chaos after the explosion, with angry youths starting fires and threatening to attack a nearby police station.

Police shot into the air to disperse them and closed a major highway. Emergency officials called for more ambulances as rescuers sought to evacuate the dead and wounded.
An emergency official told reporters that the authorities were struggling to cope with the casualties.

National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) spokesman, Yushau Shuaibu told the BBC that the explosion had happened in the street outside the church.

But he said the church had been badly affected by the blast, and the number of dead was likely to rise.

Earlier he told Reuters news agency: "We are presently evacuating the dead and the injured, but unfortunately we don't have enough ambulances.

"Most of our ambulances have gone to operate on the major highways of the country."

Officials at the local hospital said the condition of many of the injured was serious, and they were seeking help from bigger medical facilities.

Businessman, Munir Nasidi was in a hotel opposite the church when the blast occurred.

He told the BBC: "When I came out of the hotel, people were running around. Everyone was crying. They were bringing out casualties. Nobody was getting near the building as there was a fire."

Security had been beefed up in recent time following recent skirmishes between Boko Harem gunmen and soldiers in Yobo and Borno States have killed over 50.

Eye witnesses said windows of nearby houses had been shattered by the explosion.

Officials at the local hospital said the condition of many of the injured was serious, and they were seeking help from bigger medical facilities.

Boko Haram - whose name means "Western education is forbidden" - often targets security forces and state institutions.

The group carried out an August 2011 suicide attack on the UN headquarters in Abuja, in which more than 20 people were killed.

A string of bomb blasts in Jos on Christmas Eve 2010 were claimed by Boko Haram.

Meanwhile, in Rome, the Catholic Church has condemned the latest terror attacks by the Islamic religious sect.
.
Vatican spokesman, Father Federico Lombardi damned the latest attacks as blind, absurd "terrorist violence" that enflames hate.

"We are close to the suffering of the Nigerian Church and the entire Nigerian people so tried by terrorist violence, even in these days that should be of joy and peace," Lombardi was quoted by Reuters news agency as saying.

Our correspondent who visited some churches in the Federal Capital Territory however reports that the incident did not dampen the enthusiasm of worshippers as most were full as expected.

Rather, there is heightened security consciousness as unknown people entering some of the church premises were screened by local security details.

  • It is highly sad to hear that another bomb blast occurred again in Nigeria especially on a Christmas day like this. Shame to the so-called boko haram. May the soul of those that are involved rest in peace.

  • This is the time for President Jonathan to resign honourably so that Nigeria conducts another election to elect a president who can safeguard the lives of the people. Another bold step will be taking Nigeria towards the path of confederation if not complete separation.

  • What a bad way to say Happy Christmas. For heavens sake where is Nigeria heading to? Our Govt is clearly unable to tackle this Boko Haram issue.

For the sake of the lives of Nigerians; GEJ please swallow your pride and do the right thing if only that will make for peace.

May the soul of the faithfuls departed rest in the bossom of the Lord.

  • All this political boko haram killings have to stop for any meaningful development to take place in Nigeria. Why the bloodshed on xmas day? What message is this suppose to give the government? and where are our security agencies again?. Sabotaging the government for sectional or religious reasons wont work. This threat (boko haram and others) strike at the foundation of the nation and the earlier the President summon the courage and confront this menace the better for the survival of the nation.........or we all live to face the consequences of the break up of the entity called Niger - Area.

Another bold step will be taking Nigeria towards the path of confederation if not complete separation" This is exactly your design. Make Nigeria ungovernable to present the president as weak. Why bother for another election which you may not win. Just bring in those who are born to rule, rule simple.

  • Why is that any time of the year the Christians will celebrate their religious belief, some elements in Muslim North will try to thwart it? Last two years, it was some terrorists group trying to blow up a trans-atlantic Detroit bound US Air plane. Last year, it was certain Abdumuttalab on another mission impossible, this year, it is Boko Haram. Indeed, it is too early to say it is Boko Haram since no one has claimed responsibility, but their idiotic, senseless and paranoiac acts have made the general public to point accusing fingers on the when the true identities of the perpetrators are yet to be established. We Nigerians are one nation bound in freedom of expression, worship, fate and choice. But if blood-letting is the price to pay to be a nation, then let us not be a nation. Isn't it high time we call for a referendum to determine the true state of this country called Nigeria? South Sudan has done it so why can't we?

  • Everything is pointed toward leading Nigeria into crises. Whether true or cloned boko haram. I know that true Muslims know implication of taking innocent lives, and will not get involved in this senseless killing. I started suspecting that some faithless Nigerians are behind all these attacks, with hope of destabilising this nation. It is easy to turn Muslims against Christians so that at the end of the day, the country can find herself in civil war that will lead to breakup already predicted to occur before 2015. It is high time the true Muslims and Christians come out to say CAPITAL NO to this instigations.

That man that was arrested alleged to be sponsoring them should not be granted bail becouse it will amout to government weakness. I am not happy i feel we should divide the country now and everybody answering is fathers name. this was what late ojuku saw that he decided t to form biafra state and not is justifiable. Jonathan should declare state of emergency in the north and i say nothing will happen, how come this idiot go and blow up a church for God sake, are you fighting for God or is God fighting for us. well all the northern leaders sponsoring this act will berry there children, when they die they will not sleep in peace, all there act will be expose and they will live in refuge all there life.

  • The Christian faith is based on unmerited favour to the most unworthy. The people behind the bomb attacks challenge our faith. I know it is easy to want to rise to this challenge with force. But that will be against what Christ and Christianity is about. My prayer is: "Father, forgive them for they know not what they are doing." It is hard, but that is what we must do. Nigeria is one, we are told, and I have no problems with my moslem friends, and I am sure so many other Nigerians are that way. The problem we all have is with the way this country is run! Killing one another and overheating the polity is no way to go about solving this problem. One day, the evil men behind this dastardly acts will realise this. May God have mercy on all of us.

IF YES, THEN THEY SHOULD ASK GOD WHY HE ALLOWED OTHER RELIGION TO REMAIN TO DATE. IF NO, THEN THE NIGERIAN NORTHERN MUSLIM COMMUNITY SHOULD START TALKING TO THEIR BOKO HARAM BROTHERS TO STOP THIS THEIR MADNESS. • People should think deeply, WHOEVER is behind this violent and vehement attempt at INSTIGATING WAR IN nigeria is having a field day.
The country is deeply divided along so many sectional lines, for the first time in our history as a nation the military is sectionalized thanks to the powers that be, massive proliferation of weapons among the populace is current reality, Lawlessness and selective justice among the rank and file of the executive, the judiciary and the law enforcement agents.
Nigeria is a tinderbox and those that will benefit from war in Nigeria are busy igniting it, after all somebody has prophesized that Nigeria will break-up or begin to break up in 2015 - WELL THEY ARE MAKING DAMN SURE THERE PROPHESY COMES TO PASS.
AT LEAST NOW NIGERIA'S ATTENTION HAS MOVED AWAY FROM A UNITED AND FOCUSED RESISTANCE AGAINST FUEL SUBSIDY REMOVAL AND THE FGN CAN NOW GO AHEAD WITH THEIR EFFORTS TO ACTUALIZED IT IN PEACE WHILE SOME NIGERIANS ARE LYING IN PIECES.
I AM A MUSLIM NIGERIAN AND I DONT CONDONE THIS CARNAGE. IT IS NOT ONLY HARAM TO ATTACK WORSHIPPERS IN THE CHURCH, IT IS HARAM TO DESTROY A CHURCH IN ISLAM.
I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT SOME WICKED AGENT PROVOCATEURS ARE WEARING THE CLOAK OF "BOKO HARAM" AND PUSHING NIGERIA TO THE BRINK.

This group is purely political and faceless, they're only using the easiest means to destabilize the nation (i.e religious differences). It is even written in the Quran that Muslims should respect the people of the Book (Christians and Jews) so, these people are going against the teachings of Islam which is a major sin. The only way out now is for both Muslims and Christians to look beyond their differences, come together and say NO to this heartless group of people by putting more pressure on the Government to safeguard our lives and properties while we all stay very alert and report any suspicious movements/acts in our various communities. • Why killing innocent life? I
    totally condemn blood
    shed of
    whatever kind. Killings of
    innocent individual does
    not in anyway remedy the
    situation. It only end up,
    adding so much sufferings
    to peasant's social life. This
    is absolutely irrational to
    killed your opponent in the
    name of religion or politics.
    Therefore this is a serious
    challenge to security
    agencies in Nigeria,
    because the issue of Boko
    Haram was somehow so
    controversial as security
    operatives find it difficult
    to manage and control the
    prevailing insurgency that
    frightening the national
    security. Therefore the
    federal govt must establish
    a specialized center meant
    for study of the
    background causes of all
    these sectional sectarian
    movements and public
    disturbances in order to
    proffer a lasting solutions

The NSA is just siphoning funds. They are not doing anything. To thy tent O'Nigerians. My fellow Muslim and Christian Brethren, It is time to rise up against all forms of bigotry. I CANT UNDERSTAND WHAT IS PEACEFUL ABOUT THIS RELIGION, EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT IS THIS SAME RELIGION THAT IS TROUBLING THE PEACEFUL CO-EXISTENCE OF LIVES. THE TOP NORTHERN ISLAMIC LEADERS ARE NOT IGNORANT OF FORCES BEHIND THIS DEADLY EVIL AND SATANIC GROUP CALLED "BOKO HARAM". THEY ARE HAPPY WITH THIS SAD NEWS, THEY REJOICE AND CELEBRATE IN THEIR CLOSET AND GIVE PRAISE TO THEIR ALLAH OVER INNOCENT SOUL.
THEIR REASONS ARE NOT REASONABLE AND UNJUST. THEY SAID 'NO TO WESTERN EDUCATION' THEN WE THAT ARE ALREADY EDUCATED SHOULD GO AND DIE OR WHAT?. THIS HORRIBLE ACTS WILL NEVER ATTRACT ANYONE TO YOUR RELIGION, RATHER IT OPENS THE EYES AND THE HEART OF THE PEOPLE OF NIGERIA TO WHAT THE RELIGION IS ALL ABOUT.

This simply means that most of the Muslims in this country approved the killing as a way to stop Western education. Does it make sense. That you killed your fellow citizens and brothers because their Christians? Where are the Nothern leaders? President Jonathan's resignation is not the solution. We are just leaving with devil's reincarnate who take pleasure in shedding innocent people's blood. Islam is not a religion of peace as proclaimed. Shame on their God.

That Aminu would pay a condolence to the bereaved families would be a surprise. It would negate the hidden principles held by other clandestine bodies the he belongs.

In the whole world no country that are fighting against religion again this two religion are the end of the world. All the bomb blast riot figthing between Muslim an christian are happening because we don't want to join our head and became one, and the main source of all this are our leaders, if you can see our leader dosent fith they always stay in peace. So let south and east join head and fith government informing them that any body that is rolling or ever roll 25years back, should just drop and live Nigerian government for the young Nigerian to those that read politics. BOKO HARAM THEY ARE CLEMING AS MUSLEM BUT THE ARE NOT. Bc no any chapter or verses in qur'an that ask them to kill christian, i cry today because of the bomb may there soul rest in peace. • This issue of insecurity in Nigeria can only be resolved when all Nigerians believed that bombing Church, mosque or bar at Damaturu, Maiduguri, Abuja or any other part of the country is a national issue with equal magnitude. We should all stand together to face it irrespective of religion. It is obvious that the easiest thing to do in Nigeria is to masked your motive with religion then you have the two parties trashing them selves while you execute your motive. BOKO HARAM IS A NAME USED TODAY TO MASKED ALL CRIMINALITIES. just to decieve we the common men. Federal government should do something urgently. These people can not be fought by stop and search methods but by covert ops. For as long as we carry arms up and down in search of the elusive Boko Haram, for so long will they continue to confound us. The Mai Shai, mai ruwa mai rago mai suya are all Boko Harams and can plant their explosives even in the bread they sell while we are busy stopping cars on high ways. The Sultan, the Emirs, the Imams are all so quiet. Is that there is something they know that we all don't know or are they sponsoring these attacks themselves?

Let a bomb explode 20 kilometres away from the nearest mosque and we will start hearing condemnation even from the people who have never been to a mosque in their lives. Today, Christians are being killed. When there are no more Christians left to kill, the bombers will attack the sultan, the emirs and the imams. There will be no one left to weep for them. We can not afford to fold our arms and watch our people die like animals. We need to put measures in place to safeguard worshipers in all churches, Wisdom is Profitable to direct as the Scripture told us. We have to screen cars and people coming in to our facilities. In a nation like this you provide water, electricity, security etc for yourself and you still pay government just for being government. It's a pity!

  • Police adjacent to the churches were most probably busy collecting bribes, passed the bomber through after he must have parted with a little bit more than usual.

The northern leaders do not see anything wrong in this kind of attacks as long as mosques are left alone. They run their mouth calling for this and that summit with emptiness coming out of the summits. Arrest some of the sects sponsors and other northern leaders step into the sponsorship position. This sect serve the northern leaders ultimate goal that the introduction of sharia law (not that the leaders obey this laws) failed to achieve and that is to give the Muslim north dominance over the affairs of the country called Nigeria. They make it easy for recruits coming into the country from Niger, Chad and so on. Focus more on the foreigners in our midst and you would be towing the right path toward crushing this insurgency. Stop celebrating your little achievements in dealing with this insurgency and focus more on putting something consistent into place to crush same. Eliminate some and more come in through the absolutely porous thing called the Nigeria border line. The Lucifer anointed religious leaders should be monitored, the source of fund coming into their institutions should be monitored.

If the military could organize the partial arm clean up they did recently, why not do that on a regular basis and extend same to the south west, south east and south south. Give this security strategy a bigger play and you would be doing national security a great good in the whole nation not just the northern region. Too many weapons available in the country, mostly those brought in by the treasury looters, sorry, politicians, during their campaign and by those who just profit from selling weapons. Clean this country of the arms on a consistent basis.

Mr President talks tough, the citizens see him as weak in action. It is always "we are going to do this and that starting from today", six months or a year after the talk, the story becomes "we would now start implementation because there were things that had to be put in place". Another six months down the line, the talk becomes "now we are ready to go" and so forth. This has become the Nigeria Government way regarding everything (roads, power supply, security, and so on). This has gradually worked it way into becoming the people way of talks, no action. The big professors and money bags talk, they have the capacity to do something little (boreholes, roads, security) in their domains but do nothing unless they would be rewarded with national honors or contracts in million of folds. They wait until they become politicians and join the other "big talkers".

The citizens praise treasury looters, want to be their friends, hail their wives and mistresses, look with envy upon their children, relatives and friends. Some citizens do this because of the hunger in their belly, some are outright greedy for this affiliation to the treasury looters. How do you praise thieves, their children, their friends, their relatives and mistresses? Why not do it the right way and say "that is the son of that thief going over there, that is the wife of the thief, that is the father of that thief, mother of the thief, that is the the thief's friend, that is the musician that love praising thieves" and so on. You can also go like this "na the barawo dey go so, na the barawo pikin be dat, na the barawo wife be dat, na the barawo friend dey go so, na the barawo praise singer be dat" and so on. Also this way, "na the ole dey go so, na the ole friend de dat, na the ole mama wear dat big head gear", na the ole pikin det spray money for dat party so, na dat musician wey like to praise oles be dat" and so on. Add your Naija flavor to this praises but do not leave out the thieving part.

  • I love Nigeria, but the Nigeria we have today, is not the Nigeria i believed in. It is rather sad that some people will go this far for any cause. Its hard to advice the Christians to hold back and pray for peace, for i know the many sons and daughters lost to this madness, Its hard to ask the south-south to remain calm for i know they years of marginalization they had faced. President Jonathan is a Leader, a Man of Peace and good resolve. I know the weight of leadership is much on him, and i pray for Gods wisdom to guide him. One act alone will provide solutions to many of Nigeria's most pressing concerns; Nigeria should be divided into 3 separate countries. this may sound unpatriotic, but if you know the true reason for all the instability attempts, you will understand further. My hearts goes out fto the family that had lost their loved ones. I personally will not blame anyone that starts a fight to end this madness. Enough is Enough. On the Other Hand, i believe God is Watching, and he loves his church more that any of us could ever do.

  • How to know who's a Boko Haram on this board? Just begin to count how many people are calling on President Goodluck Jonathan to resign. So far I have counted a few hiding behind annonimity. But one person for sure is Bello Mohammad who cuts and pastes his anti Jonathan calling to gather followers.
And for the Northern (Hausa/Fulani) Muslems who are more closely knitted and more homogenious than other tribes to not be able to identify who is the Boko Haram in their midst - what can a poor Southerner or Jonathan do? Hausa - Fulani is a no-go-area in Nigeria, and the Arewa community have not been known to be ignorant. What clue are the Northern citizens giving to the government of Jonathan to operate on?
The North is a demographic zone of former Generals, permanent secretaries and administrators, and heads of Islam. Why would anyone lure Jonathan into this maze of boiling cauldron so they may corner him and kill him? There are so many Boko Harams hiding under annonimity trying to recruit weak minds to go along with their call for Jonathan to resign, and using such remarks to divert our attention from the main issue. If President Jonathan heeds to these calls and resigns, who then will be a likely substitute - maybe OBJ of the corrupt and evil legacy? Or the former coupe plotter Buhari? We are aware of these spin doctors - not many you understand.

That on a day like X'mas, the nation security again went to rest probably enjoining with their various families with the much looted security vote , forgetting why they were entrusted with the security of the nation. My advice to Mr. President and the south-South is that, we'll never relinquish power even if they bomb the all north. The country need a security boss and not the pot- belly officers with have around Aso - Rock. However with immunity around Mr. President, the nation expect him to take a decisive step because even him, knows his enemies. If he doesn't have the heart and courage, then we have option than to step aside as once done by Ex-president Bam-bam-bam-bam!!!!! My question to the north is, if separation is their desire, then let them voice it out than cowards.

  • The only thing that makes sense now is the break up of Nigeria. It was an artificial creation anyway. It was created for the administrative expedience of the colonial power, Great Britain. The history of Nigeria since independence has shown quite conclusively that it cannot hold together as one nation. Look at the countries that became independent of Britiain at about the same time "nigeria" did - Malaysia, Singapore, to name a few. The time has come for a conference to decide the modus operandi for the break up. I suggest each ethnic group per country. If two or more groups decide to join together, then they can work out the rules for such a union so that there are no accusations of domination in the future. The present Boko Haram policy to drum out Christians from the north makes this plan urgent. God forbid that christians would deny Jesus, our Lord and saviour. Let the muslims continue to worship Allah, who by the way, is not the God we Christians serve. Allah is the moon god that the inhabitants of Arabia served before Mohamed came on the scene. He appropriated it to make islam palatable, and so gain the support of the population when he faced some opposition and was driven to Medina. The shrine is what is covered in the black tent in the middle of the square where moslems worship during their pilgrimage to Mecca.

Enough of playing Christian who would turn the other check when one check is slapped. This menace in continuing because these useless people have come to realise that Christians don't like retaliating, but we must understand that a drastic situation needs a drastic solution and the drastic solution is answering boko haran the Machiavellian way, 'if peace did not go, then war must' - nonsence. Christains must stop being still while enemies make them bury their bredrens on a daily basis? • It is obvious that the problem of Nigeria is not deregulation but insecurity and corruption. Why is the government paying lip service to fight against the Boko haram sect. Why is the nation's chief security officer shying away from bringing to book those behind this satanic act? How come these hoodlums move their weapons unnoticed yet we have security operatives allover the nation not effecting any arrest of those caring firearms in the north. It is more disturbing to note that the threat to bomb Jos came weeks before the Christmas day yet the security operatives did nothing to frustrate the moves. SHAME TO THOSE WHO ARE IN POWER IN THIS NATION WHO ARE PRETENDING THAT ALL IS WELL, THOSE WHO ARE ONLY INTERESTED IN THE SECURITY OF THEIR FAMILIES ALONE. I'm not a pessimist but a realist ! And the reality is we are pretending to be one when we are far from it ! The handwriting has been on the wall a long time. The issue of a referendum(which is long overdue) should be broached in the House for debate. There is enough evidence since independence to give credence to the fact that this marriage between the North and South is not working ! With hindsight its clear that the amalgamation of 1914 was a monumental flaw ! This is not an impulsive reaction to the recent events but a painstaking result of the study of my dear country.Lets keep our emotions aside and face this issue head-on !

  • This is a wake up call for us to do what India, Pakistan and Bangladesh did when they are forcefully put together. Ojukwu has been vindicated long ago. He has foresight of what Theophilius Danjuma, Obasanjo, Gowon etc could not see. Let us bury our shame and face the naked reality about the forceful marriage of many countries in nigeria. It does not work at all.It is time to call a meeting so that we can separate in time without much blood shade on innocent people. Separation is best for the posterity of our young generation who are wallowing in poverty because of corruption in high places. We do not see ourselves as a country or a nation. Jonathan it is unfortunate for you, for there is nothing you can do except to brave it and call a spade a spade. History will remember you like Martin Luther King of USA. You can do it if you want.

  • This is no longer insecurity of lives and property, this is a war. This is a declaration of war by both parties, on one side the thugs called boko haram and on the other side the Nigeria government. When there is a war, there is a state of emergency. Why Mr Jonathan and his government have not declared, a state of emergency in the affected arears baffles me. This has to be done, to send a very strong message that, the government is very serious, in its bid to eliminate this boko haram a terrorist organisation. A state of emergency will put, the backers of this terrorist group on notice, that the government is now ready to give them the same treatment. May be Mr Jonathan and his government know something, that they are not telling the Nation. Why the government has not named and shamed, these backers of boko haram beats all imaginations, as the government know the backers of boko haram. The government being in denial and pussy footing with this terrible problem should be condemned by all and sundry.

  • I am a Nigerian living in USA, but we must face the fact below:
    1. President Jonathan is weak, 2.President Jonathan is ill advised, 3.President Jonathan is afraid to face the truth and afraid to be killed by the northern gang up, 4.President Jonathan feels that it will not be good for Nigeria to break up in his tenure, 5. Senate, Federal House of Reps, SSS have all failed Nigeria, with exception of the Nigerian Armed forces. Our pretends are over, Nigeria will break up and in order to break up peacefully, it is the right time now for President Jonathan to know what to do.
WHO ARE BOKO HARAM, Please Nigerians do not be fooled, there is nothing like BOKO HARAM, why is it that it is Jonathan’s presidency that Western education become a sin?, why was Boko haram not fighting all the northern head of states and northern presidents? why are they targeting Christians now?, Only someone with military background can rule Nigeria because the weakness we noticed in Jonathan is as a result of his calmness and democratic disposition, was it not in Nigeria Buhari challenged a whole commander in Chief( arrest me if you can?) can someone say that to General Obasanjo? or even Babangida?or even to General Buhari himself when he was in power?.
Now the northern elites are really the brain behind this drama and the target is to humiliate and intimidate President Jonathan to his knees, let all Nigerians face the fact. This killing of the ibos, youruba, efiks, ibibios, anangs, ijaws, orons ishekiris, orobos started not now, the history of the civil war is fresh now in mind, when killings like this was the order of the day, no one was able to rise up to condemn the maiming of southerners in the north until SIR (KING)OJUKWU of blessed memory rise out of frustration against such senseless killing, declared a Republic. Gen. Obasanjo, reportedly said once to President Jonathan. OOOH Jonathan, OHHH Jonathan you have the power use it'' I am really saddened that this thing is happening during Jonathan presidency, but he should know that, all this Boko haram thing is all about dirty politics the northern elites are playing, now it is time the Ibos come together, Niger Deltans come together, the yourubas, come together to decide on Confederation. This should not escape my mind, why should the senator who support this idiots about to get bail?????or bailed????, why was it a deal between the SSS and the northern religious leaders to release this idiots to them whenever they are arrested, in the pretext of reprimanding those arrested or reintegration?, If President Jonathan Contact me, I will advise him how to stop Boko haram, but let me give one open advise to him here, Create Anti terror court in Nigeria, where bail can not be offered by any court in Nigeria, urgently amend the constitution to contain this, make act of terror and support directly or indirectly a dead penalty by open electrocution, start it my by making Senator Ndume or any elite/s involved in this act to be publicly executed. create fear and be resolute, any judge in Nigeria, who give judgment in favor of this idiot should be charge for supporting terrorism, Judges are afraid of their lives and family. is it not in Nigeria last months I heard in the news how a Judge send a text message to boko haram saying, I have done it the way u want, what do you want me to do?) I cry for Nigeria my beloved country, lastly please let no civilian be a part of this Tribunal, Let only the Military or retired military men with proven records be the judge of the tribunal. Then call a sovereign national conference to decide on the way we can start confederation. Another aspect is the lure for money from all this new generation churches, why must you continue operating churches in such hostile environment. if the northern elites want illiteracy then so be it, if they like to practice sharia Oja no problem, but south south oil will never reach north, let them go into farming, enough is enough, the Yorubas have oil and bitumen. • As Buhari recently said, we need cmptent leaders to rule Nigeria, But as things stand, such competent leaders must never come from the North again. It is high time Nigeria is divided so that the North can be the North and the South and for that matter for any other area that wishes to be separate to to go. What is currently happening is partly an attempt to portray Jonathan as a weaqk Preseident who is incapapble of ruling igeria which is actually not the fact. On the other hand, the North seems to think that the Southern part of Nigeria needs this Nigeria more than them from the North. I will say, lets divide the country and lets see who will feel the pinch. Also whenever you hear Buhari and Atiku offer unsolicitated comments, people must be extremely careful because We as 'Nigerians' must be very careful when naked men start offering nyou their clothes. As I have always said, the most foolish and dangerous thing a person will do is retain an unwilling partner by force or by persuation. We have nothing in comon among these muslim notherners as wqe are quite different in our physical appearances, cultural tendences and value affinities. What else do need to know that we are only patching this union along. It is either we go the way of India and Pakistan, Yugoslavia or the old Soviet Union. In peace or pieces and to continue to see lives being wasted like this or to continue to mem innocent lives in the name of some mediaval or ancient ideology causes one to a braking point and it has come thgat point now. They are asking us to do our worst if we can . This has nothing to do with poverty, lack of education, or civility as people tenf to attribut it bto but it has a whole lot to do with the remnants of Arab ideology being vested on Nigeria now. Otherwise, can anybody point to any area in the Arab world where there is piece and tranqulity? What we see is thesae little enclaves being ruled by this sheik, that king, that tribe or that blood. To them, if they don't rule nobody else and thats why I think that ideology will not and will never work in Nigeria ever. The ealier we sepearte now the better.

Just watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjHk9nKUNNs and confirm that Religions are a hoax.
God doesn't care about our faith or beliefs. We are our own God, and we are a simple number for the statistics. These barbarities are pointless, and have no meaning in the overall existence of mankind above earth.
If you want to see blood kill a chicken in your backyard and do chicken soup. It's no use to kill human beings and you may get hurt too.
So President Good Luck. You do something, dress some western clothes, and put away that ridiculous hat and do something by granting regional power to regional people and that's it,. Everyone's happy and Nigeria will be the 3rd largest populated country in 2050 with 433m inhabitants.
And everyone will have their own house and a car and 3 children on average, high school or university educated. And people will sing songs of happiness and police men will give beautiful women flowers and they will kiss them back in love.
And everyone will be so happy that it's just so shinny to imagine it right now.

So brothers and sisters, next time you want to see fireworks, turn on MTV and sing and drink a beer.

  • Well, it is very unfortunate that this has been happening.Pause for a minute, do we actually realize that those who died were some few hours ago like us? I think the Islamic people are to blame for this because the so called TERRORISTS are living with them. When the Niger Delta Militants were disturbing the country, they went to the creeks because they knew they would NOT be hidden by the South. Yes the government has a lot to be blamed for,but a careful examination of the issue will let us see that as long these people are been covered by Islamist it will be very difficult to deal with. I STRONGLY BELIEF IT IS NOT WRONG FOR THERE TO BE A PUBLIC PROTEST DEMANDING FOR THE DE-SOLUTION OF THE COUNTRY BEFORE IT GETS TOO LATE AND WE COUNT AN UNIMAGINABLE NUMBER OF LOSSES.The constitution of Nigeria was written by Nigerians and Nigerians have the right to demand for its change.Any attempt to remove Jonathan will trigger a crises in the South, because some Southerners views these bombings as a deliberate attempt by the North to take over power...

Nigeria is paying for the corrupt leaders she had had. Unless those so called former leaders are brought to accountability, things will continue to go bad. To make or assemble a bomb is not not what an ordinary individual could undertake without the backing of the powers that be. Nigeria will grow through this challenge, may our brothers and sisters who died in the attack rest in peace. They did not die in vain, they were performing their religious duties which is for good.

  • Quite a pity Nigerians are butchered and killed like animals under the current watch of Pre. Jonathan "Goodluck".Even animals dont get killed this way..they rather are killed with some sense of dignity! Instead of confronting security issues head-on, Jonathan and his weak followers have decided to bury their heads in the sand like an Ostrich and do nothing.I am, and I believe other well-meaning Nigerians are just very sick and tired of this Govt with same-old, same-old manner of approach. The north can not continue to unleash terror and harm on hard-working Nigerians, and for the most part, they should realize that no single person has the monopoly to violence. I do not write to preach or ask for a revenge against these Stupid Muslims fanatics who orchestrate all these attacks against innocent Nigerians --- majority of whom are Igbos, rather the point I am positing is that these killing should be stopped immediately by this so called Nigerian Gov. at all cost!! All available forces and instrument of government should be deployed at this time to bring cernity to bear. My heart goes to those who lost their lives in this avoidable but Stupid attacks, and I pray for the repose of their souls. MAY God grant them eternal rest!!!!

  • There are issues here to be addressed, far more greater than on a religious stage. I am a muslim but there is nowhere in the Quram where killing is accepted, under any guise. These Boko Haram sect must be real sick to think they are fighting for God. How can any sane man concludes he gets to heaven by killing others created by God? How can you forcefully try to make someone see reasons when your actions are the direct opposite of what should be? I live in Malaysia, and as against what the outsiders think about Malaysia, it is a country of diverse religions yet they live co-existentially with one another. I had never had any form of religion been spoken ill of !! These also brings to the fore the fact that Nigeria had derailed from being one and I seriously think a rethink is paramount over the three tribes forcing themselves to be together. We have countries far more smaller than just a state in Nigeria in existence. I had lived in Qatar and the total number of the Qatar population is about 2 million people, out of these, about 70 percent are foreigners and Qatar is the highest producer of Natural Gas. I was amazed at life in Qatar, though predominantly a muslim country, yet alcohol are sold to foreigners with a special pass, recognizing that others might have needs that the citizens consider sinful! They even have clubs !!! The largest american military base outside of the United States is in Qatar and in recent times, Qatar had spoken brazenly out about leaders who had held on to power to enrich their personal pockets without regards to the masses making up the population. As allied as Qatar is to the Saudi Kingdom, they dont see eye-to-eye on all issues. Women are not allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia as a form of religious submission to Islamic rules but they do in Qatar. This goes to say that life itself is conventional ! It is time the tribes in Nigeria decides inf co-existing is now a crime, to each go out to be on their own. Maybe if the leaders had accepted the need of the Igbos to go their way right before the civil war, this kind of carnage would be averted. What sense is there is bounding together when unnecessarily loss of lives are recorded on a daily basis, especially during monumental Christian festive seasons, painting other Muslims as killers instead of peace lovers? The government does not have a hard work to do...let's just go our separate ways !!! KAPUT !!

  • I have this beleive that the real and sincere muslims to God will never see a christian to be his enemy let alone trying to kill him, the Nigerian elites and intellectuals should stand against this babaric and inhuman actions because it is possible that the foreign powers like Americans and the Zionists are the ones causing this problems through some of our ignorant and jobless boys to make the Nigerians killing so that they can come inside Nigeria to steal our wealth, they have been driven from the middle east and they were unable to get what they want there, they are now looking for alternative. Let Nigerians be aware!

  • I leave in the Arab world and we are free here. The Muslim leaders provides us with security and freedom to worship our God without fear. It is not about Muslim or Christain. It all about a people who has been brutalised, battered, raped, enpoverished and frustrated by those who are supposed to protect them.
What we suffer today as a nation is not about religion but a fightback from a decayed and finished society. There is a limit to human endurance. Just give Nigeria some little time and you will see a total revolution targeted at the leaders. The leaders think they have the military to protect them but have forgotten in a hurry about libya, Egypt, Tunisia etc.
The boys doing this bombing will very soon come to terms with the fact that we are being used and will be dumped.
This is a wake up call to the Biafrans, Niger Deltans, The OPC and other ethinic militias in the South to start geting ready to liberate our country from the cluches of the IB,OB,AT,GJ etc.

Simple crate another sect to counter the Boko Harram , they are humans like us and we should not be afraid of them.

  • this is holocaust satanic. this is beyond religion issues. there are some un-identified evil minded behind all these masqurading as bokoharam. GEJ find it difficult to deal with them. An armed robber has no religious identity, let remove religious sentiments, all these people are evil. the weight of the law must be brought out and deal with the criminals decisively. If boko haram is revenging the death of their leaders in the hand of the security agents, is the security agents the catholic churches or the xtian centers being bombed on daily basis? the spate of bombing is beyond comprehension now, there is the need for SNG. the nigeria project must be readdressed if we have to move forward. the satanic bombing is totally unacceptable. all nigerians must rise up now. if we want to go the way of sudan, let all rise for it.

  • The Boko Haram are not faceless. Some of their key faces are allies in the corridors of power and I submit that putting an end to this kind of atrocities goes beyond wishful thinking.

To the best intend and purposes, the perpetrators of these cold blooded & cowardly acts are themselves cowards, a composite of sets of highly ignorant citizens and greedy politicians.
Unless these cliques and their concerns are subjected to direct threat and possibly in same measure they are using for others, they won't stop & will continue to think they’re something special.

But in fact these are nobody at all. Nothing but wells without water; arid lands that has nothing for anyone; and an ugly wind that mustn’t be left to live another day.

For one eyes not to see evil, you need the whole body to make the medicine for that.
All hands must be on deck to identify the real faces of this gang of murderers.

 This goes beyond mouth talks or wishful thinking. The principality and power involved in this dastardly acts need to be destroyed.
 Their human agent need to be subjected to public ridicule, shame and the full wrought of the law.
 Their concerns and heritage need to be place in direct line of annihilation.

And our system as whole needs a social revolution!
May the innocent dead rest in peace.

  • I feel enormously dejected to hear sad news on Christmas day. I am inclined to think that we the Christians are weak including my President Goodluck Ebele J. The only solution to Nigeria problem is dis-unity. The North should go on their own so that we the Southerners can have peace for once. Nevertheless, I pray for WAR so that my dreams can come to a reality. I am from the Heart Beat of the Nation and I am ready for war any time and any day. My President is too weak and I think he should resign so that he can give a president who is vigorous a chance.

  • I have read about 98% of the submissions here and it is evident that Nigerans especially Christians are justifiably angry. What most people fail to understand as plausible factors behind these dastradly acts of sporadic bombings in Nigeira are:
    (1) Polital: For selfish reasons, disgruntled politicians do anything to convey their diaspproval of certain issues not pleasing to them. I see plenty of politicisation behind the spate of bombings going on right now.
    (2) Americal Displeasure With Nigeria: A discerning person can see evidence of external hand in the crises looming in Nigeria. Going by the history of wars in the entire world, America has always in most cases been behind most wars. It happened in Iraq where America blatantly lied that there are Weapons of Mass destuction just to justify their agression on the once peaceful country. Study every country in the world presently in crises and you will find Americal behind the crises. I can not absolve America from the current crises going on in Nigeria because (a) They had once predicted that Nigeria will not exist as one Nation by year 2015. They will do anything to make their self-fulfilling prophesy come true (b) America does not leave any Nation in the world alone that refuses to support whatever America likes (no matter how irrational the thing is). The recent passage of anti-gay bill by our Senate was seriously frowned at by America and I knew immediately that America will want to see how they can cause crises in Nigeria so that they can then support one faction to fight the other faction in Nigeria and at the end of the day cause total destrucion to the Nigerian Nation both psychologically and infreastructurally. At the end of the war Americal will offer to help rebuild Nigeria but at costs that will be heavily exorbitant - they will coner our Oil in exchange for their ill-motivated assistance. This will enable them to keep us economically subservient to them. Not only that, Americal will aid the appointment of a Nigerian leader who will always pander to their godless sodomy and Gomorrah antics.
    (3) By nature, American soldiers do not like to stay idle, They are presently disengaging from Iraq and will be interested to be posted to any other part of the world that is rich in Oil. I pray they do not come to Nigeria.
    (4) Boko Haram's wanton destructive activities is not in any way supported by the Holy Quran, I enjoin all to get copies of English version of the Qur'an and read it. Nowhere will you find killing of innocent souls commanded. Even animals are to be slaughetered with pity in the heart of the one slaughtering the animal. No cruelty is jusified to any creature of the Almighty. Thus it is either that the people carrying out the bombings are not Muslims or they are those who do not know the dictates of the Islamic religion, which is the sad aspect of it for them because they are perpetrating big sin in the sight of God.
I will like to correct Femi Shuib's interpretation of "kosi ebo kosi ogun" as "no english no war" and his conclusion of this as opposition of all Muslims to western education and by extension support of all Muslims to Boko Haram. The interpretation of "Kosi ebo kosi ogun" is "No to idol woshiping and No to charms". This is the central message of isalm and that's why it was appropriate for the vehicle to be occupied by the Muslim clerics he referred to.
I will therefore call on all Nigerians to be wise and do not allow us to be divided by some selfish elements. Both Christians and Muslims alike should rise in unison against agents of destruction.

  • I have read through all the comments. Do you know what? All the comments that have been said is rubbish to me. Why? Islam is diabolic and satanic. The origin of killing human beings is from their idiot and false prophet called "Prophet Mohammed" Please readers try and read through the quoran you will find out that prophet mohammed was a killer, murderer, womanizer, thief, cheater and many others. So what do you expect from his followers called muslims? They are following the footsteps of the prophet. The Bible says: "The thief has come to steal, kill and destroy. Thats exactly what Islam is all about. As far as im concerned there is nothing like Boko Haram in Nigeria. Is Islamic agenda to islamize the country which they cant. Is high time for our Christians leaders to shine their eyes to this happenings. The god of islam is not the same of the God of Christians. The god of islam is a thief and a killer.

  • Boko Haram, if indeed, they are Islamic [I don't see them as such], will surely have their reward for the mindless destruction of innocent lives from Allah at the appropriate time and place.
Meanwhile, Nigerian leaders, past and present, dead and living, will also have their reward for bringing about nothing but unconscionable deprivation and social injustice against which the hapless majority of Nigerians hardly have any option but to fend for themselves and, at times, resort to self-help. The present leaders should, as a matter of utmost urgency, address the very unfair distribution of our common wealth and retrieve/return all stolen resources [either through official graft or manipulated privatization] from those who stole them and are consuming them so conspicuously all over the place. If this is not done and the governments continue with their fuel price increase, unnecessary and unwarranted change of vehicle registration number plates, drivers licences, toll collection on yet-to-be-finished Lekki-Epe road, 2012 will be a year of Nigeria Spring.

Since 2009, there is sharp increase in the number of dead recorded following the activities of this sect. Members of the Armed Forces are not left out in the death toll recorded. In the light of the above, our leaders appear to be politicking with lives of well meaningful Nigerians while members of their families continue to fly from one country to the other. Jonathan and others, it is no shame for you and your cabinet to peacefully resigned. This is a clear case of failure in service delivery. • Well, so much said; all I can say is this is evil and I do not believe true Muslims were behind this. Infact the whole Boko Haram Project is not a muslim creation. We all know the link between the sect's slain leader and some prominent Northern Christians. That is a point to ponder. Second for those who would seize this chance to lambast the Islamic faith and its followers stop observe and think; Northern Nigerian Muslims are the most accommodating of all Nigerians for there is no remote part of the north where you cannot find a church and christians living as accepted citizens of that area. Can that be said of say eastern Nigeria? Islam is Peace and Allah SWT says in his Holy Book that "there is no compulsion in Religion" and we Northern Muslims have worked with that since the creation of this country. what we see today is just the evil of some few bent on disintegrating this country. Yes Boko Haram could be Muslims but are all Muslims Boko Haram? This is what the US and Isreal were doing to western Muslims since 911. It will not be suitable for us. For those who will seize this chance to call for dividing Nigeria, that is never an option. This is not to say we northerners are afraid of a divided situation. No. We yearn for it too. Only that it is just not an option. Is a divided Nigeria a peaceful region?

If you observe very well in this country and all other parts of the world you will find out that most of this riots, killings, and destroying of property starts from their friday gathering!what are the teachings?in a nutshell I want to say categorically that their leaders know those that are perpetrating this evil act. It is very clear the people instigating this act are not invisible they live amongst us. But I have this to say to them-it is written the wicked shall not go unpunish.Nigeria is God's own country,HE will surely fight for us all.Amen

    Nigeria, o! my Nigeria.
The unfortunate thing is that "Joe" is less a man not
    to talk of a president.

  • Arise, O compatriots, Nigeria’s call obey
    To serve our fatherland
With love and strength and faith
The labor of our heroes past
    Shall never be in vain
To serve with heart and might
One nation bound in freedom, peace and unity.

    Nigeria, o! my Nigeria.
The labor of our heroes past is becoming in vain.
Are we still a nation bound in freedom, peace and unity?
Where are the compatriots who should obey and
serve the call of our fatherland.

    Nigeria, o! my Nigeria.
where is the love that we should share amongs us.
Adieu victims of Christmas day bomb blast.
    Adieu Nigeria.
