Since his arrival at the French capital, former Man United and Madrid star David Beckham has the talk of the French footballing world, and even more so with the prospect of his debut against Sochaux on Sunday night.
Despite PSG's beating of Valencia in dramatic fashion in the Champions League on Tuesday night, the fact that Beckham arrived to meet his new teammates and watch on from the stands threatened to steal the limelight on the night.
And then followed Wednesday’s media buzz during his first training at the Camp des Loges-PSG’s training ground where the club had to turn away scores of journalists seeking accreditation to cover preparations for what would otherwise be a routine trip to struggling Sochaux, reports futaa.com.
Paris Saint-Germain Sporting Director Leonardo in a chat with Ligue1.com said he was not bothered about the media hype surrounding their new asset as he’s confident that Beckham is professionally capable of handling the pressure.
“Obviously there's a lot of talk, but you'll see that he's an extraordinary person. People will get to know him.
“Everyone has been talking about the money, politics, Qatar? but it's all guff. He has nothing to do with all that sort of stuff but simply wants to finish his career at a club that he knew of.
“It's great to have him with here ‘cause he’s an exemplary role model to everyone.”
Life is good at Paris Saint-Germain Carlo Ancelotti's men who are top of Ligue 1 log play away to Sochaux on Sunday evening.
