Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero
The Kano State Police Command has declared two persons wanted in connection with the attack on the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero.
The state Commissioner of Police (CP) Mr. Ibrahim Idris, said one Babangida Baba Salihu and his associate, Na’allah had earlier been implicated in the attack on the Emir.
He told journalists yesterday in Kano that both Na’allah and his boss Babangida had been declared wanted by the police.
The police commissioner also said twelve AK 47 rifles were recovered from armed robbery gangs in the state.
He explained that other weapons recovered from the criminally-minded persons include two assault rifles, one pistol, riot gunner, two improvised explosive devices, 13 magazines, 723 of 5.56 ammunition, 152 of 7.6 live ammunition, 21 of .9m live ammunition and empty shell.
According to him, on January 20, this year, there was robbery operation at Jogana town, where members of the community lynched one of the suspects who was trying to escape.
He further disclosed that the police arrested one Hashimu Ado who hail from Katsina State for conspiring with three others at large to attack a supermarket, saying the lynched suspect was later identified as Zailan from Wudil town.
According to him, the command recovered from the suspects; three AK 47 rifles, five magazines, 69 rounds of live ammunition and two mobile handsets .
The commissioner stated that a distress call was received from members of the community that two suspicious looking young men were sighted around Sauna Kawaji by Yankaba carrying large bag, adding that when the police got to the area, the hoodlums abandoned the bag and took to their heels.
“The bag was carefully searched and it was found to be filled with six AK rifles, two assault rifles, one pistol, riot gunner, two improvised explosive devices, 13 magazines, 723 of 5.56 ammunition, 152 of 7.6 live ammunition, 21 of .9m live ammunition and empty shell.
