Strong indications have emerged that former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar is warming up to roll out his machinery for the 2015 presidential election.

His campaign office at Jabi district in Abuja, which was never really closed and had operated on a skeletal level, is now being renovated and put in good shape for the campaigns. .

The office is already taking a new shape as workers have been busy carrying out extensive renovations on the media office.

The renovation, THISDAY learnt, has been going on since the end of the public holidays to mark the end of the Muslim Ramadan fasting period.

It was learnt the media office is also being strengthened with more hands to promote Atiku’s fresh bid for power.

THISDAY investigation revealed that although President Goodluck Jonathan is yet to come out openly on the issue of 2015, some Northern political contenders like Atiku are not leaving things to chances.

Atiku is largely regarded as the strongest political contender in the PDP from Northern Nigeria.
His bid for the presidency dates back to the build-up to the annulled 1993 presidential election.

At that time, he vied for the ticket of the defunct Social Democratic Party in Jos but stepped down in the second ballot to pave way for the eventual winner, late Bashorun MKO Abiola.

He also contested for the presidency in 2007 and 2011, vying for the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the party’s convention in Abuja but lost on the two occasions.

He was the concensus candidate of the Northern Political Leaders Forum (NPLF), the group which unsuccessfully campaigned for the sanctity of the PDP zoning arrangement in the last April 2011 presidential election.

  • must Atiku RULE this Nation? how many times does he want to be addressed as a looser? what is that best he does have for this nations? beside, is he the only northern PDP presidencial candidate? even if the presidency is going to the north,I don't think he is d 1. At that age i expect him to enjoy fresh air in his own house and pave way for young nigies to do shit. but i still wish him well.

  • This story can be best described as a political gossip especially as it did not come from Atiku’s media office. How can the renovation of a media office in 2012 be deemed preparation for 2015 campaigns? His campaign office in Wuse II, we all know was effectively shut down after last year elections and the media office had always remained open. Writers should desist from insinuation journalism capable of further overheating the polity at a time we all need to concentrate on developing our country socially and economically.

  • Why 're we bothering your heads over Atiku's preparation for 2015. Its no hiding fact he has notoriety for loosing elections. 2015 may not b an exemption. His historical political antecedents depicts of a natural number 2 man. When he was to be number one as governor of Adamawa state destiny came calling as he was moved to be number 2 at the presidency. Alhj. Atiku, shine your eyeooo!

  • The report did not capture Atiku's Presidential Primary History properly. While the report took us to the memory lane of his contest in 1993, it failed to mention the fact that Atiku was the Presidential Candidate of the Action Congress (now ACN) in the 2007 Elections.

  • Whether you all offside and faceless dimunitive dormant critics like it or not, Atiku will be president, come 2015. What we have experienced from our fellow southerner has shown that if u are not a repentant militant or a senator, minister, governor or King's brother or crony u cannot get anything that ordinarily is ur right. Atiku must be president or real political blood will flow.

  • Atiku will become president come 2015 and will turn nigeria around for the better and all you senseless critics will wish you had voted him to power since 2007. The most qualified, most serious, most sincere aspirant yet without a political godfather,so therefore, no 'secred cows' to protect.

  • sai Turaki well freedom of expression has given people like you the power to say whatever rubbish you like. When you say Atiku has a good manifesto, will he implement it? When do they begin implementation of their manifesto? When he was the Vice-President was there no manifesto? While VP did the manifesto say he should sell companies to himself and associates? They use it to get our votes and chooses to do when they like. That`s why a country like Nigeria has no middle class, which is the main reason why the gap between rich and poor is wide apart. Is not someone like Atiku we need in Nigeria. Nigeria will be worse off with him.

  • To Atiku haters keep it up , who knows what our next punishment would be after this president of ours leaves? I think we are smarter than all this politics of pull him down we play in this country, if Atiku is moving Nigeria forward by Gods grace he will be the next president if not let God decide.
