The Nigerian Army has embarked on series of trainings aimed at exposing its forces to the concept of asymmetric warfare and as well to ensure that they stay ahead of the terrorists in the ongoing fight against  internal insurrection.

This is coming as the Defence Headquarters has warned members of the public not to be deceived by the existence of fake facebook account of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Admiral Ola Sa'ad Ibrahim.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony of five courses under the Infantry Corps Centre (ICC) in Jaji-Kaduna yesterday, the Acting Commandant, ICC, Maj-Gen Kennet Osuji said the training exercise tagged; "WAZOBIA KUNAMA" is a blend of conventional warfare and military operation other than war aimed at combating contemporary security challenges.

Osuji said that the conduct of the exercise, which was the final field exercise conducted by Tactics Wing of the Nigerian Army School of Infantry for Commanding Officers Course, Companying Commanders Course, Young Officers Course, Senior Infantry Non Commissioned Officers Course and Non Commissioned Officers Course is in line with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) in combating national security challenges.

He assured that the advantages taken by the course participants would enhance their professional knowledge, adding that it was through them that the Nigerian Army Constitutional roles would be effected in practice.
"You are all witness to the recent unfortunate event in the cantonment. There is the need to therefore keep a step ahead of would be dissidents in order to effectively anticipate and counter their actions", he stressed.

" I urge you (the graduating students) to be encouraged by the fact that the Nigerian Army was taking necessary step to provide appropriate training logistics to all its formations, units and personnel", he said.

In a related development, the Director of Defence Information (DDI), Col. Mohammed Yerima in a statement yesterday raised alarm over fake facebook accounts impersonating CDS, Ibrahim.

Yerima said: "The attention of Defence Headquarters has been drawn to the existence of a fake Facebook account of the Chief of Defence Staff, created by some cyber criminals in the popular social network.

" The Facebook account with the name “Chief of Defence Staff “has the official picture of the CDS Admiral OS Ibrahim".

"The general public is hereby warned that the  Chief of Defence Staff or Defence Headquarters does not operate any official Facebook account or page", he noted.

The DDI warned: "Any person who transacts any business or makes any comment in the said fake Facebook account does so at his or her own risk.

"The Defence Headquarters views this as a criminal act and effort is being made to trace and bring the perpetrators to book. This is for the awareness of the general public".
