The merger committees agreed in principle to set up a 20-man caretaker committee with five members from each of the merging parties to take charge of affairs at the state level.
“April 27 is being proposed for simultaneous national conventions to be held at different cities by all the merging parties, “ he said.
It was learnt that APC governors had to be called-in to take part in the negotiations so as to help trash out the outstanding issues.
The source said following the intense lobby by the ACN to have its logo, the Broom, as the substantive logo for APC, its governors took it upon themselves to try to persuade their colleagues to calm down and consider using the ACN logo.
The source said there was an initial disagreement over the logo amidst grumblings by other parties who alleged that Chief Tom Ikimi was favoring ACN members and giveung more opportunity to speak at meetings in order to drive home the party’s agenda.
Present at yesterday’s meeting were nine of the APC state governors except the Borno state Governor, and Yobe state Governor who was represented by his Deputy.
