Panic gripped passengers at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, when a loud sound was heard and passengers and other users of the airport started running helter skelter believing that it was a bomb.
But THISDAY investigation revealed that a passenger abandoned his bag at the arrival hall of the international terminal which alarmed aviation security officials who invited Police Anti Bomb Squad.
The squad used their equipment to blow the bag only to discover that there was nothing dangerous in it.
Eyewitnesses said that at that stage, passengers who were billed to travel last night fled the terminal in fear.
When contacted, the General Manager Public Affairs of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), debunked the claims.
This is coming at the tail of another bomb scare that happened a few days ago.
There have been series of such rumours and fears owing to the increasing spate of insecurity in the country.
