Former Super Eagles Coach, Shaibu Amodu

Former Super Eagles Coach, Shaibu Amodu was actually touted for the job of managing the Menas of Niger Republic and may have been hard done by his wage demand and his poor knowledge of the French language, sources in Niamey, the Niger capital revealed.

A member of the Niger National Team Committee, Aisha Amodu, said in Niamey, that FENIFOOT, was so impressed by the track record of Amodu, that he was listed the front runner for the job, but something went wrong along the line, which she will not like to discuss.

“We looked at his records and he is one of Africa’s best, but we could not get him, that is why we went for Francoise Zahoui," she said.

Zahoui was at the Stade Gen Seyni Kountche stadium on Tuesday evening to watch both the Super Eagles and Menas train for Wednesday’s friendly.

Nigeria trained first before the host took over the pitch with a sizeable number of fans coming to watch the workout of both teams. The new Nigerien coach arrived the country only on Monday.

Meanwhile, the harsh weather in Niamey, the Niger capital has been calmed by rainfall which fell all through Monday night and immediately after the Eagles training on Tuesday. “We hope the weather remains like this for us to do our best," declared Eagles midfield ace, Ejike Uzoenyi.
