The Igala Traditional Council has announced the appointment of Mr. Idakwo Micheal Ameh, as the new paramount ruler for Igala kingdom traditional council.
According to sources from the council, the new monarch emerged after all the screening and selection for his emergence were concluded.
The acting Head of Igala area traditional council, Alhaji Yakubu Amodu, said both the Igala Mela kingmakers and the Achadu Ata unanimously elected Ameh, the son of the former Ata of Igala, late Ameh Oboni, as the new Ata Igala.
Amodu, who is the Ejeh of Ankpa, said the council met last week, where far-reaching decisions to harmonise the reports of the two screening bodies were subsequently endorsed by the council.
He said the nominee of the council was submitted to Governor Idris Wada for ratification, stressing that all documents pertaining to the nominee was before the governor for endorsement and pronouncement.
The monarch enjoined the citizenry to remain law abiding and support Wada for the delivery of dividend of democracy.
The stool became vacant after the death of late Alhaji Aliyu Obaje, which prompted the king makers and Achadu Ata to commence the process of selection which they have, after due screening, elected Idakwo Ameh Oboni from the Ocholi lineage as the 22nd Ata Igala.
