Governor Rotimi Amaechi
R0ivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has said his administration has constructed roads that were of high quality standard in the state.
Amaechi stated this Sunday, at St. John’s Anglican Church, Rumueme, Port Harcourt, during the child dedication service of Master Godstime Samuel Ndubuisi, son of Venerable Jolly Ndubuisi and his wife, Gold.
He said his administration had spent funds to ensure that the roads in the state were durable and could stand the test of time. Some of the completed roads in the Port Harcourt area include Elekahia/Rumuomasi road, Ikwerre road, Oginigba/Trans-Amadi road, Rumuola road and Old Aba road.
“We have done well with roads. There is now an improvement with the roads,”Amaechi said.
On Okporo Road, Amaechi said he had instructed the contractor handling the road project to expand and dualise the road.
“I was on Okporo road and I wasn’t satisfied with the width of the road, so I have asked the contractor to expand the road further and dualise it. It will cost us more money but we will expand the road. We want to do the roads in the state once and for all,” he added.
Amaechi further assured the people that the ongoing work on Ada George road, a key road in Port Harcourt, would be completed before the rainy season.
On Rumuolumeni and Eliparanwo roads, Amaechi said the contract for those two roads would be awarded once the due process on it was completed.
He disclosed that the contract for Ogbogoro road has been awarded and work would soon commence on the road.
Amaechi at the child dedication service urged Ven. Jolly Ndubuisi and his wife Gold to bring up their child in a manner pleasing to God.
Venerable Jolly Ndubuisi, who is the Vicar and Rector of St. John's Anglican, Rumueme had earlier expressed gratitude to God for blessing them with a child several years after marriage.
In his sermon, Most Rev. I. C. O. Katey, Archbishop, Niger Delta Province and Bishop, Diocese of the Niger of the Anglican communion, said God has power to do all things, and commended Rev. Ndubuisi and his wife for remaining committed and faithful to God in their period of marital challenge.
