Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi

Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has pledged his administration’s preparedness to continually assist the state police command to build on the peace and security in the state.

Amaechi spoke Friday  while receiving the new State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Indabawa during a courtesy visit to him at Government House, Port Harcourt.

The governor congratulated the new CP and urged him to capitalise on the relative success of his predecessor, Sulaiman Abba as well as bring in his own expertise to maintain peace and security in the state.

“I have heard a lot about you. I have heard about your capacity in terms of operations and therefore I believe that you will continue from where the last commissioner of police stopped before he was promoted. We had a wonderful relationship with him; he was a very good commissioner of Police,” Amaechi said.

“If the stories we read about you are anything to go by, it is my belief that you would do same”, he added.

Amaechi also encouraged the new Police boss to work hard to meet the expectations of the State government and all Rivers people and even perform better than his predecessor.

He said of the former police commissioner, Suleiman Abba: “He discouraged bribe taking amongst policemen and led by example by not taking bribe. He was contented with what he had. He ensured that kidnapping was reduced, he fought robbery and ensured that we maintained security.”

He also urged the new police boss to inculcate discipline amongst officers in the state police command.
The governor further appealed to the new Police boss to take inventory of Police assets in the state while urging him to maintain police vehicles to fight crime in the state.
