Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, has assured multinational companies operating in the state of adequate security to carry out their operations.
Speaking at the Shell Club in Port Harcourt at a gala night in commemoration of Nigeria’s 52nd independence anniversary, Amaechi said security was key in his administration’s drive to provide the enabling environment for multinationals and oil firms to operate favourably.
“Before 2007 when I assumed office, most of us can testify that insecurity was the order of the day, but we tried as a government to bring the situation under control. We assure you of adequate security in all your operations,” he said.
Amaechi also expressed the commitment of his administration to provide regular power supply by December this year despite the inability of the Federal Government to conclude arrangements with the state government on the distribution of power to residents of the state.
“By December this year, we shall provide regular power supply, even though it is the responsibility of the Federal Government and PHCN. We have decided to do that because of the commitment of this administration. Rivers State Government has 545 megawatts of power for distribution.”
